Do Cathay allow an award ticket hold in the Asia miles program (flying on CX)?

An update on this I tried to place two J redemptions LAX-ADL on hold yesterday and advised 70% of the points required were needed in my account.

Things must've changed - they used to allow to do it even with 0 points in there.

My redemption is with a stopover in HKG for 12 hours not sure if that has anything to do with it.
