i have dropped down from Platinum to Gold. I have a lot of points to use for J award flights. I know that I can now see less available award flights on QF but what about the other one world airlines.

I have been looking at bookings for next year and the pickings are very slim to Europe and South Africa. I don’t need these flights until May/June 2019 so I’m looking at all the possibilities.

I thought that maybe now I’m gold this has made a difference.

The status benefit regarding award seats only apply to Qantas flights. Availability of oneworld flights are not affected by status.

My partner is QF gold just booked return OW/EK J partner flights to Madrid for July 2018. You just have to be creative and know how to look :). For QF bookings yes WP has a real advantage though. Partner airlines is equal though.

Definitely a difference in availability from Platinum to Gold. Try using the multi city booking tool and route through different cities (HKG, SIN, NRT, HND, CGK, KUL to name a few). You may find a creative routing not previously considered, possibly snagging F seats on EK too.

Thanks very much for all your suggestions. I’m pleased to hear status doesn’t affect oneworld airlines.

I’m looking at BNE to AMS. LHR to JNB, JNB to BNE. And trying do to it as simply as possible ... age is now making long complicated flights much more challenging unfortunately, so hopefully I can find some flights that suit.
