Hi there, looking at award flight options departing North America to Europe (and return) and attempting to determine best value for points in economy, particularly in peak season.

Ideally I will travel June-July. Obviously this is peak season and it's a super popular route. Although there are plenty of award seats between NY & London, at 56k pp return on BA or AA, the taxes are unappealing. $600odd pp. So it seems like a poor use of points considering you could pay to fly with someone like Aer Lingus return from about $900 pp or use points for significant domestic travel in the US and often pay taxes of less than $5 pp.

Taxes between NY and LON don't seem to come down too much in the shoulders either.

Please can anyone suggest alternative departure and arrival ports where the mix of points and tax charges equate to better value?

I'm flexible and interested to fly from anywhere in NA to Europe and back.
