Hi all,

I booked an award flight using miles from my AA account (no elite status).

Is it possible to add my Qantas frequent flyer to the ticket and enjoy my QFF Platinum benefits?

Thanks!

Yes - I did just this - sort of - at the time of the flight I had both QF and AA top tier status but I used my QF status to experience the benefits - the best of which was the greater than normal luggage allowance on the QF flights. I was able to do this again with the second set of awards using AA points on QF metal after I had dropped down a level on AA.

Awesome. I wonder if I can do this with an award flight using AA points on AA metal.

You will only get the general Oneworld benefits and the AA specific Oneworld benefits. You won't get the QF benefits (extra luggage for example) on AA metal.

Specifically, would I have priority boarding, exit row seat and lounge access? Thanks!

Yes you can.I travel with mrsdrron-I am with Aadvantage but only OWS,she is WP with QF so when i redeem flights using my AA account and we are on AA metal her QFF number is on her ticket.Yes it is only OW benefits but means we get into a OW F lounge if outside the US and flagship lounges in the US where available. We could probably just flash her card but having the OWE logo on the BP saves hassles.
PS-yes you do get priority boarding and able to select your seat but often you will be behind a host of AA elites.generally I can select more seats than mrsdrron on AA even though lesser OW status.

Thanks a lot for the tips!
I like AA because they give some perks to non-AA frequent flyers. On a recent trip to the US, I received priority boarding, exit room seats, flagship lounge access, and free food/drinks on Y. I'm not sure about extra luggage - I never check luggage.
Plus, the unlimited wifi for 8 dollars beats the 40 dollars per 35 MB that Qantas offers between SYD/LAX.

You also get some free baggage on AA.

The wifi is a different model - they are fortunate that domestically they are flying over a fairly populated landmass - not many cell towers in the ocean*

*Note the actual technical delivery of inflight wifi has been ignored for illustrative purposes in this post - I actually don't know if cell towers are relevant

I have another question in the same vein.....have booked AA flights LAX-JFK-ORD-SFO-LAX and have upgraded all flights with SWU's. Would like to credit my flights to my Qantas account. Is this possible?

I have had SWUs applied to mrsdrron's flights(J-F on NRT-DFW).They reissue the ticket but did keep her QFF number in.She also got credited F SCs and miles as a bonus. Not tried changing FF number but you should be able to do so.
