AVV: D7 commencement and potential

At first I thought it'll be Indonesia AirAsia X (what a mouthful) but then found that they will become a non-scheduled commercial airline:
X marks the spot: AirAsia X Indonesia is no more

QF and Malindo operate 737’s from DPS-MEL, and I believe Air Asia has some A321neos on order, which should be able to fly DPS-AVV, so I assume that services services could be operated by QZ (Indonesia Air Asia). AVV-BKK could be operated by XJ (Thai Air Asia X).

Given that article on XT, looks like it will have to be a D7 continuation.

I don't see Airasia group using the 321 on the longhaul due to their CASM benefit on the 330 ( thanks to the 9 across seating)

DPS is a logical destination because of its appeal to all classes of Australians.

Whether it is oversupplied ex MEL at present is a good question. Wouldn't D7 have to use fifth freedom rights to fly AVV - DPS - KUL or similar?

Any new services to DPS and DMK will be serviced by the airline's affiliates in Indonesia and Thailand respectively.

IMHO, JQ won't be doing any substantial move, they have already committed to T4 at MEL being its busiest and largest operation, any move of international services to AVV will see in a large loss of self connecting pax. Not to mention QF pax connecting onwards to JQ international. A few weekly services to NZ and DPS might be all AVV will get.
