Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Sent email to LM requesting itinerary involving CA and SQ flights, none of them even show up on the LM website but do show availability on other websites. Didn't attach any screenshots this time.

Reply said CA flights are "sold out". They aren't, LM just can't book CA anymore, not even manually but still had to try as I become desperate with this itinerary.
The good new are that SQ flights were confirmed!

I couldn't complete the booking without the CA flights so back to the drawing board for me while being cautiously optimistic about booking SQ without using screenshots. Will update further when (hopefully) will manage to complete a valid booking.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Back to my previously reported issue with AC - I always get an error when I click on "continue" after selecting the flight(s). Sent screen shots to LM and this time it took 4+ days to get it booked via the call centre - very annoying. I was worried the seats would disappear but the upshot is for whatever reason there is currently very good availability on AC (SYD/BNE - YVR) if anyone is looking to travel to North American - from YVR you can then connect to many other places.

still contemplating whether to redeem TG (J) MEL-BKK or TG (F) SYD-BKK, since the Melbourne route will be getting the A350 next year.. will be travelling early of April next year..

TG J soft product is not much better than Y so I'll definitely go F, especially on day flight.

TG is *supoosed* to be upgrading business class food with a la cart hawker style selections. on the routes it's being offered it looks pretty good. I think it's supposed to come with the a350 but I can't provide a source for that.

even so, if you can bear the transfer in sydney, TG F is a nice ride and the ground handling on arrival confirms it as the preferred choice to fly to BKK.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Got some time off at the end of the year between jobs - trawl though LM looking for a way back from Japan or nearby around 13,14 Jan. Finally find a good option, buy 17,000 miles - go to book, and *poof* flights are gone!

If anyone has a bright spark to get us back from Japan, Korea, Taiwan or similar, would love to hear it! I have hit CAPTCHA stage, and my face is falling off.

Cheers,
cleaver

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Thanks all, will delve into some of those options (bar the scoot and air asia option unless they have started taking LM points!)

Trying to get back to PER. A CTS-PER flight all in J was up for hours and just disappeared on me. Ah well, nothing to do but keep on looking :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi there - posted these q's a number of weeks back without much luck - hoping someone might be able to help me

Having had a bit of a read of the quite lengthy thread - i just wanted to clarify/confirm some things and ask a couple of questions.

* With the screenshot method - has anyone had success with 3 (or more) screenshots? ie a->b + b->c->d + d->e for an a->e booking?
* Does the 8 hour limit steadfastly apply to screenshot bookings?
* Is there a max limit on number of legs? I want to get to Tennessee and it looks like a minimum 4 legs flight - is this an issue?

* With the screenshot method - has anyone had success with 3 (or more) screenshots? ie a->b + b->c->d + d->e for an a->e booking? as long as you can show availability for each segment or say A - B via C to D should be OK

* Does the 8 hour limit steadfastly apply to screenshot bookings? - iirc people have been able to get close to 24 hour layovers or at least onto the next day

* Is there a max limit on number of legs? I want to get to Tennessee and it looks like a minimum 4 legs flight - is this an issue? - seen some convoluted flights posted with 4 or 5 sectors so I think as long as the routing is relatively efficient you should be OK

only way to know is email them the screen shots and a scan of each person's passport to speed things up

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Tried screenshot method with a mixed Y + F itinerary (2 class plane for one flight). Was told they cannot do mixed class through call centre unless its available online.

Is this true?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

True unless u convince them otherwise. E.g, the y leg only has a y cabin....mixing and matching for something not online (routing or availability) is an uphill battle. Good luck!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

It seems the Lifemiles website is down. I'm trying to do simple searches and it keeps coming up with a note 'there was a problem while processing your transaction'

People seem to have had mixed luck. I have successfully managed to book a mixed class redemption via screenshot method FCO-FRA on LH in J and then FRA-BKK-SYD on TG in F. The LH plane that didn't offer F as it was 2 class only.

I would second TG F over J, I haven't flown the new A350 but I can't imagine it is much better than the current layflat J product. I just had another fantastic experience on TG F

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

No luck with mixed classes for me - tried for syd-bkk in F then bkk-icn-nkg in J - got an email back 24 hours later: no dice.
Fired back with Plan B (mel-bkk-icn-nkg all in J) an hour or so after receiving the email and had a response about an hour and a half after that (business hours in Colombia). Received a phone call from them within the hour, 15 minutes on the phone and had the confirmation email shortly after hanging up.
Flights are in Feb. mel-bkk is TG466 in the A350.
Is a first flight on the A350 worth putting up with 2 x OZ flights in 763ERs?
