Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

yes purchase 1000 points and this will reset your activity and give you another 2 years.

otherwise make a redemption and this will extend your points too.

perfect, thank you - purchased and double checked Your Lifemiles > Activity > Expiration (now Jan '18)

awesome, cheers!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Gday

When using the screenshot method to book flights has anyone been able to successfully link sectors for different airports in the same city. For example flying into JFK and out of EWR or into HND and out of NRT?

Thanks.

Pele.

Yes I remember several people doing this.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

any standard offerings to BCN or MAD?

better out of SYD or MEL?

not having much luck in the search late next year - not sure if that's because its tough availability, or cos i'm looking for 2 pax.

Yes I booked to BCN very easily a month ago, using screenshots. I used Thai to BKK, then I had the choice of Swiss or Turkish to BCN or MAD (I was looking in J class) Turkish have two flights a day out of BKK - maybe fly 12 hours apart to get your two seats?

Also, I chose to overnight in BKK, 14 hours connection, LM had no issue with it, so you can send in a screenshot for the next day

Anyone else notice that South African Airways flights don't seem to show up any more on Lifemiles? :(
Just found this post on FT re same issue: Anyone able to book South African - FlyerTalk Forums

Might have to use SQ KF miles now to book those very expensive intra Africa flights.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice. Sent an email from a screen shot booking on Christmas eve but haven't had a call back from LM. Is it worthwhile sending a chaser or just calling them?

Anyone suggest the best number to call them?

Has anyone had a similar experience and can shed any light on what to do next? Booking is fairly simple and they were very prompt in my last email but starting to worry slightly. TIA!

They have been a bit slow in responding to emails given the holidays. I found calling them elicits the "we will get back to your email, we can't book on the phone with you now" response. May be best to just send another chaser email.

Hum - a bit OT but I just received an e-mail from United offering 150,000 miles at 50% discount ($2800 USD including US taxes) - best deal I've ever seen from UA. For anyone disenchanted with LM this is not a bad *A alternative given UA's very flexible routing rules - they also allow a stopover on a return trip and will book SQ (subject to availability).

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

TK also has flights out of KUL and CGK to IST for onward connection to BCN, both of which have reasonable availability in J even for 2 pax. TK SIN-IST is normally difficult for redemptions.

Friend in Australia used ANZ AMEX twice to pay for award tickets when Lifemiles called, card denied both times ( although ANZ insists there was no attempted charge). Vaguely remember there was some issue with some Australian issued credit cards. Any one have recent experience?

Incidentally, Lifemiles said after two attempts, the PNR get cancelled and you have to go back to square one and send them screen shots again to generate a new PNR and wait until they email you a new PNR and then call you. I had managed in the past to get them to change flights/dates and look for new routing on the phone and issue new ticket, but seems like they have become more adamant about only responding to emails with screenshots and not open to making changes to flights on the phone. Is this the experience of others too, or have we been getting bad agents recently?

Interesting you mention that - I think I reported something similar a few months ago - a friend had to change a booking but ran into a CC issue. After a couple of attempts the PNR was blocked and the only way LM would accept the change was for someone to front up to an Avianca office in person to pay for it. The booking was essentially in limbo... change made, but unable to be processed without payment.

My friend sent out a tweet and someone in New York responded and went to the Avianca office to pay.

Do you mean CGK not CDG?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I just cancelled a ticket. Called them a bit before 11am sydney time (7pm new york). Heard it should be 9am to 5pm NY time but I need to cancel quick (flight on Jan 1)

Heard a lot of horror stories but everything was done in less than 15 minutes and miles back into account straight away. I used hangouts dialer which worked pretty well with entering all info. Now lets see how long until I get refund.

I have had issues in the past with my Westpac cards (linked Mastercard & Amex). I found 2 x J SYD-HND-LHR on line in early Oct & forgot which CC had the problem & tried to pay with Amex. The transaction was declined, but the seats were gone & never came back. I eventually found MEL-BKK-LHR with TG via screen shot & had no trouble paying with the Mastercard. All my attempts with AMEX have never made it to Westpac AFAIK, so it appears that the issue is at the LifeMiles end.

Ouch, loosing those NH seats must hurt!

I have similar issues with Westpac AMEX. Never works online, only the MasterCard.
When tried to pay over the phone same AMEX was accepted so the problem must be with LM online payment system.

Thanks SingaporeDon - Will send another chaser today!

Meant to update this last night but got the call from LM while at work today. Couldn't take it as I was interviewing a candidate and called them back an hour later. Billing department closed so was asked to call at 10.00pm when they opened.

Called back and all sorted :)
