Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

No Idea but I doubt it unless they are selling upgrades at the gate - but with UA people with UA points are probably waitlist for a points upgrade.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use LM for an economy united international flight and then pay for an upgrade to premium or economy plus with United?
Not sure about United (but I've used LM to successfully upgrade from Y to J with SQ)

I have been offered economy plus for a surcharge as part of standard seat selection. This seems to be open to anyone, on any ticket. But it’s just an economy seat with extra legroom. The new premium economy product, or business class is different. I’ve never been offered a cash price to upgrade to those either before checkin, during online checkin or at the airport.

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing virtually no Business/ First redemption bookings on Lifemiles both to/ from Melbourne

I looked at Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Hong Kong and even European cities and found nothing in Business/ First?

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, is this a post pandemic or am I looking in the wrong place?

Haven't looked for about a week but similar to your experience then. As per a bit of discussion on this forum but in other threads, it is not just a Lifemiles problem t the moment

I dont think it's any better to/from Sydney either TBH

I have just tried to search flights on LM. Either the departure or destination airports one has to be in South America.
Won't let me search SYD-BKK or vice versa or any trip involving SIN or HND within Asia.
Have they sent a few QF IT students over to give them some help.

Thanks, I was looking at multiple flights but nothing was appearing yet all the articles I was reading was "cheap redemptions in Business or First'?

I am really hoping something changes and more flights become available soon

Working ok for me. Tried SYD-BKK, HND-SFO as to tests. Both retuned results.

Same.
Dummy FRA-JNB, SIN-IST and HND-LAX searches (random 2022 dates) just now returned Econ and Biz options.

Did you find business flights available for redemptions? Can you let me know that dates so I can check if it shows for me?

I've been periodically checking MEL-BKK/SYD-BKK for a month or so, and have only ever seen economy options.
I have seen the same issues, I am wondering has this always been the case with lifemiles or just because of COVID an Thai not releasing much if any premium cabin

Thai reductions started just before Covid
Actually the problems with TG began well before that. But at the end of 2019 a finance investigation warned it was on the brink of bankruptcy.

However, the experts note that the financial problems of Thai Airways have started long before the coronacrisis - losses have accompanied the company since 2013. The difficult situation was caused by two factors at once: the pressure from the competitors, working in the low price segment, as well as the changes in the national currency (baht) against the dollar and the euro. At the end of 2019, the experts evaluated the financial condition as critical. With the assets of $ 8.1 billion, the company has accumulated the obligations of $ 8.04 billion, thereby putting itself on the brink of bankruptcy.

In October last year, the president of Thai Airways issued an appeal in which he warned of a difficult situation and a possible termination of the activities. The press service subsequently tried to disavow the words of Sumet Damrongchatham, pointing to the misinterpretation of his speech by individual media.

6 weeks after that article TG did file for bankruptcy.

So I’m guessing anything in the business on Thai is non existent?
