Australians reveal their worst airline | Travel News | News.com.au

AUSTRALIANS have voted Tiger Airways their least favourite airline, says a new survey.
The Domestic Airline Satisfaction Survey conducted by Choice magazine ranked Tiger lowest, with a 55 per cent satisfaction rate.
Jetstar was rated second-lowest, with a 60 per cent satisfaction rate, while Virgin Blue was the most satisfactory, at 68 per cent.
Travellers liked Virgin Blue's friendly crew, but some found its quirky on-board banter irritating.

Apparently these figures were released in April, not sure why they're being reported now. But is there a reason I can't find a number for Qantas domestically?

I would take the international standings with a grain of salt though, because of this comment, from here:

Nevertheless, Jetstar and Virgin Blue are now significant players in the current international market; our survey reveals that over the past three years, about 5% of respondents chose Jetstar economy for their international flights and 3% chose Virgin Blue.

Not a large base to be basing any real conclusions off.

If QF truly isn't as satisfying to fly internationally than some of its competitors - notwithstanding the so-called "Best Airline in the World" for a long time now, SQ - then how come the number of responses in each of the other airlines is less than half of those for QF, with the exception of SQ which is just over half of the QF response rate?

Australians can't be that stupid - if they're not satisfied why would you subject yourself to the same punishment over and over again? Because QF are cheaper? Hardly - they're usually market level fares if not more expensive.

I agree with your caveat samh004; 5% and 3% are hardly anything to jump for joy about. 'Significant' is a ridiculously overused and misused word.

The domestic results are a bit more plausible. Funny that on all fronts QF is doing worse - i.e. fly DJ and you will get better in-flight service and a more comfortable seat, all from being able to more easily select a convenient flight you want in a lot more convenient booking process at a price which represents more value for your dollar. I've only got one DJ case so I can't offer a qualification on those......

I think a lot of that will be dependent on the fact that QF fly to more destinations from Oz than any other single airline.

There's also the fact that there's a certain amount of brand loyalty, and if you already earn with QFF, then you may not be keen to start over with someone else.

Then there's also the people who pay for QP and need to fly with QF to get the lounge access they paid for.
