Australian state border restrictions

Yeah :( There's a bit of savings - about $75 - with the PCR test in Australia, but still comes in just under $400 for tests. The Fiji government is providing full board however for all hotel packages, which are automatically 'CFC approved'. A seven night package at the Sofitel Resort Fiji including flights, all meals, transfers and tests would be $1500 per person. You'd be hard pressed to get that sort of value going to QLD?
Yes the IC Hayman island is at least that per night.

What a surprise - not. After being telegraphed a few days ago the official announcement is now out about the move towards requiring 'full' vaccination prior to interstate travellers arriving in W.A. I am quite happy to support this move - if it keeps out some of those I have seen or read about then that is all for the best. I am sure that it will eventually be required as a standard practice.

But not likely to motivate many from east to book a holiday in WA until they remove the requirement for fully vaxed to quarrantine on arrival and test post arrival.

I don't believe motivating "many from east to book a holiday in WA" had any bearing on the decision whatsoever.

Of course not, he wants to stay fortress WA but is running out of valid options to make it hard to visit so has had to relent because the effect of opening up with high vacicnation rates in NSW hasnt been the doomsday scenario he keeps using to scare the locals.

I thought I was about to have my first failure helping someone get an exemption to come to Tasmania. But just rung. The couple are in Launceston in HQ and a father is very happy.Took 4 applications though. The first was on the Friday afternoon that Hobart's lockdown started. The authorities were obviously spooked.

His comments were about checkpoints on the border. The 17th date is fixed - it was just a matter of whether there’d be police on the border and airports to check that you have met the requirements. It will still be open. But expect lengthy delays if driving.
So I can fly in on the 17th Dec and no HQ?

But do you classify that as good? Four applications sounds like over the top police State to me!

In theory yes if you, for some bizarre reason, expect the QLD government to keep to their word

I have reward flights after xmas and even I dont expect Qld to have properly opened to NSW by then despite predicted vax rates, thankfully reward seats are easily refundable. Because we cant trust Anna to not move the goal posts again.

The first 25 were on the first application.Compare that to QLD when even if an exemption is granted the person has to do the 14 day HQ before seeing their relative. As is usual here the police take them to the hospital first for a 30 minute visit with their relative before being taken to HQ.And then a visit every day until released from Quarantine.
There were also some extra difficulties with this application.i was pessimistic from the start.

I've been scared to lose them but my points cache across QF and VA have saved me a small fortune in credits. I still have a few hundred $ with VA but at least travel bank is easier and a lot less wait time on the phone if needed.

Dont forget to add the extra costs of Fiji =
:All travellers who visit Fiji will need to stay at Care Fiji Commitment (fiji.travel) accommodation within the first three days of arriving in the country. They will need to supply a negative PCR test 72 hours before departure (about FJD$350 or AUD$225 a person), as well as documented proof of their confirmed three-night CFC booking before the flight and download the careFIJI app. Once they’ve arrived in Fiji, travellers will need to take a mandatory Rapid Covid-19 test at their resort 48 hours after arriving (around FJD$35 or $22 per person). You will also need additional testing before boarding your flight back home to Australia, and again, this will be an additional cost of $225 per person.
That’s a total of $472 + in testing fees per person.
Yes that's all true, few additional cost.
We're staying on an island off fiji & at $1000 per night, full board, theses additional costs are incidental, non issue. Just happy to leave the country briefly on a holiday.

Qld opening in time for Xmas, as they've joined the 'Christmas Alliance', they'll be fully booked & tourism will do well & thankfully for that.
Still waiting to officially hear it in the media Jakeseven, ha.

I like hearing MClown continually say other states will have all these restrictions, house visit numbers, cafe/restaurant limits, masks etc.
I doubt Vic & NSW will have any restrictions by Christmas.

We'll be same as them, just we can travel over borders, domestic & international.

It’ll take you a day to get from Ballina to Tugun.

With todays continuing improvement in the NSW case numbers - clearly no longer meeting McGowans definition of extreme - Mark was asked why NSW isn’t being reclassified.

Turns out the answer is that WA residents might have the temerity to leave WA and go overseas via New South Wales and then demand to be let back in to Western Australia…

Needless to say the reaction from WA people that they are truly locked in now is starting to dawn.

Can't wait for the reaction in Perth when they see NSW and Victorians holidaying in Bali/Singers/Thailand.

He is literally begging for a high court challenge with that commentary.
