I noticed a closed thread regarding using Australian power plugs in China
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ainland-china-power-plugs-adapters-40483.html

On a couple of recent visits to China I have encountered difficulties with plugging in Australian plugs into Chinese sockets.
Plugs on appliances recently bought in Australia now have insulation on the pins closest to the main body of the plug. This is a safety feature following some electrocutions where metal objects fell onto exposed pins of plugs that were not fully pushed into the socket. The consequence of this feature is that the pins can't be bent to fit the slightly different positioning on the socket.
I have found it useful to take a two pin US style adapter as a backup or if you have an older Australian double adapter with pins that can be bent slightly that is another option.
(Its always safer to take a full selection of adapters when travelling!)

The usual advice is never bend or modify and electrical plugs so consider that first for your safety.

However, if you ignore that safety advice then get a double adapter with a surge protector so that if there is a problem the cheap item is blown up not your phone, computer etc.

Take a couple of double adapter surge protectors just to be sure.
