I guess I should have started this last week - sorry for that. So who has been watching? How good are our young Australians travelling this year? Just so much better when we get quality representation post the first round don't you think?

I think there has been record crowds each day for first 3 days has there not?

So who has been? Who is going? I will be there Sat night if anybody wants to say hello. And will be there finals nights Fri 30, Sat 31 and Sun 01 if anybody would like to say hello.

I went on Tuesday. It was actually my first time EVER attending and I was surprised how much I loved it. We saw 3 games....including Djokovic and Stosur. Really amazing to see the pros up close. Atmosphere so different to the TV and the psychological element of the game is right in front of you. I was entertaining clients so it was great to head back to the air-con'd marquee....but I have to say the broader public areas seemed pretty civilized (though very busy) and I would have liked more time to explore the world outside of corporate marquee land. I'm envious of anyone with finals tix!

+1 has been watching, I have been watching between AFFing.

Yes, it is great to see so many Aussies. Must admit that I am not a fan of Layton so wasn't upset when he lost.

Do like Sam but she seems a bit hit and miss (no pun intended) with her career. Mind you, she is 20 something in the world but just doesn't seem to get into the finals as often as I think she should. It was sad for me to see her out.

For years now +1 and I have been talking about going to MEL for the tennis, the timing is just never right for us.
A bucket list thing I guess. +1 really wants to go to the French clay courts - hope she makes it one day soon.

Do both. They are both so different.

YOLO

That'd be me - I'll wave. Isn't a night at the tennis just the most civilised sporting event imaginable?

Cruiserette is off there tonight with 3 of her GFs - they will be dining at Waterfront first - then water taxi to tennis centre - then lower level seats in centre court to watch Maria at 7pm followed by Raffa - now if that is not a civilised adult's night out what is?

Cruiserette really has trouble with Marias 'grunting' - personally I like it but I digress - so I am tipping the girls will prolly not worry too much about getting to see the start of Maria's match but rather squeeze in an extra bottle of Veuve or 2 before they leave Waterfront - there will be some giggling going on I am sure.

Seeing Sam play....she had the physical ability but I think it's the psychological element of the game where she is vulnerable (of course...it's not at all easy!).
I feel a bit sorry for Lleyton now, but back in the day he was really unlikeable - I think he was a bit arrogant.

So true! It is very civilised. I might have to source some personal tix next year now I've realised how much fun going is!

Amazing result - differing post match views of Nicks first set actions though - did we see the birth of a new Villain or of a new Superstar? Unfortunately I only saw 1st 2 sets as went out for dinner - gave my tix to sister and a nephew - they have been RAVING all day about the atmosphere last night - so sorry I missed it?

Who watched Victoria Azarenka V Dominika Cibulkova today? You will never see a better women's match anywhere. Is that Dominika a pocket rocket or what? That old saying stands true - 'It aint the size of the dog in the fight but rather the size of the fight in the dog!'

OK kids - here is an AFF special - 2 tix to tonight's matches on Rod Laver arena to 1st person who puts their hand up - free of charge of course - Lower Section 18 - Row T - these are great seats. You will get to see Venus and Novak strutt their stuff.

First to claim can have them but be quick I don't want to see them not being used so I will be offering them around.

Just need email address to transfer tix to you - go for it kids!
