Australian e-gate outage causes mass delays at airports

I just came back from HK on QF30 - walking off the plane, was faced with a wall of passengers in non-existing queues waiting for kiosks. It was a nightmare. The queue extended back into the main causeway before you actually turn into the kiosk section.

Following aircrew to bypass the queues, I found the front kiosks were also similarly congested.

So I went to the manual customs queues with families and young kids - and got through in about 30 minutes - otherwise I estimate would have been 2 hours or more.

Not sure if this is the right thread to complain about Melbourne International...

Coming back through SYD.

Had no issues in MEL yesterday, thankfully.
