Australian e-gate outage causes mass delays at airports

Unfortunately, it appears to be “departure” e-Gates. So a few peeps might be missing flights today around Oz…😔
 
Came through about 1:20pm and all was fine at passport control. Must've just been ahead of it! eveyone seems to be boarding flight as expected.

I know that Sydney is the centre of the universe, but if it’s nationwide, wouldn’t the other airports be plunging as well?

The article covers this, the outage was nationwide, but it seems the other airports were able to avoid delays.

Are you doubting the story? I assume so because you've put chaos in quotes.

It was reported by multiple sources and the articles contain photos and video so not sure what you don't believe. Sky happened to be the first media site to report the news which is why they were my source for this thread. Subsequently other outlets have made articles.

Oh, no, no, no, no. Not doubting the event, but just that I never watch certain media outlets and haven’t been too interested in monitoring much media lately, anyway. However, your posts are very informative, so nothing personal of course.
 
The J/F lounge is a really a contingency so that passengers can arrive early enough to mitigate situations like these and others, and if no issue they can burn off the hours in the lounge
