Australian Cricket Season 2023-2024

I ended up staying up until the end! A great match, with a heap of tension, twists & turns. Watched on from SYD, and somewhat regretting that today, but also glad I've been able to test out our recently replaced espresso machine properly! I'm also feeling like I'm in my early 20s again, in that I'm pre-planning to feel awful again on Monday morning, as well :D

Anyone reckon we can take the only match in the CWC that truly matters away from IND? :)
The bookies don't have us too far out of it.

Cheers,
Matt.

IMO, which I do realise doesn’t count for much, :) it will be very interesting to see what sort of pitch will be prepared as demanded by the Indian cricket board.
Thinking they will go for a rank turner as per the test series just recently.

If so, then at least the Aussies have been well tested against spin overnight!

Won't be any grass on it one can bet!

ps: what is it with continuing brain fades with stupid reverse sweeps when the ball isn't there for it? FFS.

Like they did for the semi against NZ: fresh pitch prepared for the game, but on the day of play (I believe), they switched to a pitch that had been used through the tournament…

Then again, the Indian pace bowlers have been doing such a good job, why would they need to worry?

Does seem to be easier to win games batting first, unless you’re Sth Africa with a huge semi-final mental block to try to overcome. Toss crucial on Sunday.

Interesting stage of the match 3 wickets 123 runs 23rd over. Australia have pulled it back but need to get out Kohli soon.

Victory!!! Nine games in a row after losing to India and South Africa. Beat all teams playing in the tournament so deserving winners even if not best performed overall.

India were a good team beaten on the day. Probably needed to be tested more in earlier games to see their plan B, C and Ds worked.

Everything needed to go right for Australia 🇦🇺 after second match and slowly they got players fit and
in form.

Bowlers played key role in semi final and the final.

Amazing win and super happy for my boy Trav.
Would’ve been nice if he hit that last one a foot the other side of the fielder though 🤣
Haven't we Radelaidians been sayin that for years! Must be next Aussies captain as well. Got them into this Match as well. Selectors did good in selecting him after his fracture and he rewarded them well.

The big difference between the old Travis Head and the one we’ve seen in the last year or two is his composure. It felt like a couple of very senior batsmen at the top of the Australian order let themselves get a bit flustered by the atmosphere and occasion. OTOH, Head looked calm and relaxed, like he was in the nets, not in the middle of 130,000 screaming Indian supporters in a WC Final. Truly outstanding innings. And Marnus was the perfect counterpoint.

Bit tired this morning, but…

I guess that's also a maturation thing. Worked for him. A couple of the others have never really grown up. Or maybe I should say, matured in themselves.
