Sydney woman dies of septicaemia on Fiji honeymoon

Condolences to the family.

I couldn't help but wonder about:

Ms Clarke's sister started a fundraiser to bring her home for emergency treatment

Why would they waste time organizing a Gofundme for urgent travel? Surely flights from Fiji to Sydney are relatively affordable, and they could have left before they needed a proper medical evacuation (which obviously is expensive).

Sounds like there is a bit more to the story

Very odd. Also one assumes no TI. I wonder if ciguatera will be blamed.

When you are unwell you don’t automatically think that within the next 2 days you will be in an induced coma. The staff thought she had typhoid so expectations were she’d respond and be ok. This escalated very quickly. No doubt they will check that proper coma induction occurred.

I read she had also been diagnosed with Lupus recently. That may have contributed. It can be a very hidden but wicked illness. From one who knows.

For some reason, transporting a persons body via air can expensive.

Couple years ago A German mother and step daughter were caught at Liverpool airport trying to smuggle their deceased husband/step Father on a easy jet flight to Germany.

Inquiries are believed to be focusing on whether an attempt had been made to avoid the costs and bureaucracy of repatriating the body to Germany after Jarant had died the previous day.
