Hey,

I currently have 2xU tickets booked on QF25 departing 4/7/06.

I wanted to leave a couple of days earlier, but there is no U availability.

Using ExpertFlyer, there appears to be heaps of J availability.

From your past history, is there a reasonable chance that Qantas may release a couple of these into the U inventory in the next few days?

Thanks for any info you may have!

Paul

That would be during school holidays (at least in some parts of Australia), so that does not help. but if lots of J available now, then there is some chance. You can use the ExpertFlyer flight alerts feature to notify you if U becomes available. But I would expect if they do release any more it is likely to only be a single seat. It is unusual to see multiple U (or Z) become available in the last few weeks, but it is common to see U1 or Z1 pop up in the last 2 weeks.

So I would not count on it, but it is possible. The problem is that you cannot waitlist for it, so using EF Flight Notification can be very helpful. Note that in my experience, the yield management availability changes seem to happen over night, so probably best to get into the habit of checking your email notifications very early in the morning if you want to catch any fresh availability changes.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
