Hi all,

Got a business trip coming up next Apr to Seattle. Wanting to maximize SC earn to hopefully hit platinum.

What's the best routing to take on Qantas or OW partners, since double SC promotion probably won't be repeated until Mar/Apr next year, making last min booking either risky or too expensive...

Tried looking to head west rather than east, but nothing coming up as return trips, and multi-stop trips are very expensive.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Kevin

Fly QF metal and QF operated plane as close to that city as you can.
Flying AA metal QF flight numbered/AA flight numbered SC earn has been reduced as a QFF flyer.
Play with the QF SC earn calculator.
Not sure if DFW or LAX is closer.

Don't fly AS (Alaskan) as you will earn a pittance of QPoints and no QF SC.
Just checked this one out, unless a DSC come again, on a return Au to SEA, you will earn 560 QF SC (return) at the most in J.
Flying Au SYD to DFW in whJ earns you 200 (one way), DFW to SEA on AA in J earns you 80 (one way).
Edit: if you current QF SC count is a bit above QF SG level, then QF WP can be done with this return trip.

Thank you for the advice. I was thinking along the line of complex itineraries like going via Asia/Scandinavia/Middle East.

Especially when sale fares can be had for ~$5K I think.

KUL-TYO-LAX/SAN-SEA return on JAL J can be done for $3900-4200 / 600SC. Check it out on the JAL Malaysia site.

Just an option, still need to get yourself to KUL somehow :)

Find a TA who is on the ball. Mine got me on AS metal, but QF flight numbers, for LAX-SEA-LAX later this year.

Would a One World or similar RTW fare (eg booked through Finnair) meet your requirements? Probably not much more expensive than a direct return J ticket and you can add plenty of sectors.

Yes, I started considering that option when Google flights refused to show return itineraries heading West...

Any idea if Finnair rtw is possible in the $5-6k region?
