Saturday in Narita, a free day, as knew not to attend any of the attractions and theme parks on weekends.
After having something small at a local Dotour, sells coffee and small foods, I took myself off to the city to explore.
First stop, the massive crazy crossing in Shibuya. I took a video but no photos, I was just so memorised and the number of people.
Pokemon Go is still huge in Japan, and I was really looking forward to playing and speaking with the locals, more to come in a few days time. For the PoGo players still here, there are 3 gyms at Shibuya Crossing, at the time I was there there was L5 raid on. I'd estimate at least 100 people, perhaps more, at this location, huge gathering.
I could play PoGo all day but knew I should be exploring, so did that.
Walked about 800m north west and found myself at NHK Studio Park. This place is a tv studio for I think kids programming from what I could gather.
200Yen entry, for a walk through of the history of the studio, interactive displays, and live viewing of a kids TV show.
Finished the tour and kept walking North to Yoyogi Park. Suggest you read the signs if you're looking for Meiji Jingu shrine and don't do what I did and walked through the park. Didn't think it was a mistake though, plenty of things happening.
Two dedicated dog parks, one for less than 5kgs and another for all others
Kept walking and you spot a whole lot of people doing various activities, making giant bubbles, playing Frisbee, a ball sport just to name a few (it was a beautiful day too btw)
After asking a local, I was directed to the entry to the shrine.
When I eventually got there, a wedding was on progress
Eventually made my way to the Shrine, paid my respects and continued doing some walking.
Found myself at Shinjuku, so crowded in a small walk way, if you're claustrophobic don't come here!
Oh, just to the left of the screen is the Cat Cafe, I didn't go inside because already feeling a cold coming.
All the walking deserved a treat, right? Yes, I thought so, a macho, brownie crepe, so good, and worth the wait!
I didn't have any issues with the train system, although continuing buying tickets was a bit of pain, should've bought a local pass, oh well.
All the automated announcements are in English and Japanese, as well as the trains that have monitors...
All the lines have different lettering and colours, signage in stations is clear, also showing direction of travel. Very impressed.
