Asiana to disappear as separate brand Dec 2026

And with that, my Star Gold status will come to an end, with final use in September on a trip on NZ to Niue.

Was fun while it lasted. Asiana's Star Gold status was always too good to be true forever and I'm just pleasantly surprised it lasted this long. A match to SkyTeam Elite Plus is far less useful for most in our corner of the world.

The slow yet inevitable march towards being a free agent continues.

I have flown many Asiana flights using lifemiles so this is a sad day! The pinnacle was the 4 of us flying OZ F from Jfk to Icn in 2017.
I was surprised to see how long I had been a member of lifemiles. First awards on. OZ, TG and NH..

Was cleaning up a lot of old emails and came across a few of the LM awards. 52000 miles on LM for TG F. Same problem as now trying to get seat allocation on TG with awards.

Very much enjoyed the OZ F service.

Any last chance to redeem OZ F?
OZ F was eliminated as an offering many years ago. The F seats still exist, but they are "Business Plus" or something like that.

I flew OZ F only once and a very long time ago. Funny enough, it was on a 747-400M aircraft. Not really anything on today's F standards as such, but fantastic service from the crew.

Sad to see OZ finally go. My last trip was Sydney to Barcelona return in J in November 2024 for only A$5.5k.

Can I ask what will happen to OZ Lifetime Gold?
Will they become KE Lifetime Gold?
I am concerned that no airlines in *A in Asia-Pacific is offering Lifetime Gold so we are suffering from poor treatment when flying in Europe.

Outside of FF programs and rewards, is there any information on what will happen to the OZ flights e.g. will they still operate as planned just branded as KE. I am interested as I can see a OZ flight HKG-ICN-NRT at 1:40am with a 2 hour connection at ICN. Sure the time is not the best however it would work with an arrival into HKG at 21:55 and I would not have to overnight in HKG for a morning flight HKG-NRT/HND.

From what I can find on the web, OZ, like KE, has two lifetime statuses. One kicks in at 500k miles and the other at 1M - identical for both airlines.

The statuses will directly map over. The KE 500k lifetime status has SkyTeam Elite Plus status.

ANA still offer it don’t they?
They do, but only flights on ANA metal count towards lifetime status.

With the departure of Asiana, there are no more Star programs which count Star Alliance partners towards lifetime status. Alliance partners counting towards lifetime status is now only the preserve of Oneworld and SkyTeam...

I think ANA requires you to become Japanese to get Lifetime Status?

Looking at their website for it, it actually looks like:

- miles on partner airlines do count (edit: but only for the million miler status that only gets you special baggage tags and nothing else)
- importantly, their Million Miler program does not grant Star Gold, only things like baggage tags, no mileage expiry, domestic lounge access on ANA flights and eligibility to apply for a special credit card (which presumably requires you to be a Japanese resident).

Hardly worth chasing, even if you are resident in Japan.

Ive taken that hkg-icn flight a few times. It is too short to get any real sleep.

I haven't been following but seems odd they would directly map as benefits quite different.

In any case no help to me as I won't gain a 2nd lifetime KE status and lose a lifetime *A status.
