Emirates has some cheapies to end Nov.
Viva Macau may have something better in December window.
AirAsia has some good deals from KL to MEL between 25-29 Dec - and some ripper deals in Feb.

Tiger has some SGN to PER ticks reduced from USD 400 odd+ taxes to
$USD 185 all up including taxes around Xmas day.
Too bad their PER to MEL is $485 plus tax - no wonder they are driving punters to AirAsia and BogStar. That and the
(Error code: sec_error_revoked_certificate) I am getting in Firefox.

Thus the collusion theory to keep prices high for Aussie outbound December flights is alive and well, but discounting/papering at the 2 week left mark.

The Australian flying public has been offered the lowest fares ever seen this year, if they are so lazy and apathetic, not to be able to recognise a good deal when they see it, charge the blighters full price, I say. Difficult to blame the airlines, they will only discount a percentage of their cabins. The flights out of MEL for the next two months are nearly zeroed out, and as in any business, when the demand exceeds the supply, we rip the public off for every cent we can:D, tell them they will get a free set of steak knives or stay 7 pay 5, they will pay anything. If they want a cheap fare, it's only a matter of getting out of Australia, and how easy is it to get to Indonesia or Malaysia, our closest neighbours. No, don't knock the airlines or the agents, they are only reading the market for what it is, and the average Australian traveller will procrastinate and pay the going rate, there is no pressure for otherwise:(, regards bkkrop

however I think most of the Xmas Pax wanted to depart before 22/23 dec and back after 1/Jan...
