Hi,

I'm trying to call Asia Miles - 1800 129 264 - the number is frequently engaged, but when you do get through (and go through all the options...) you get a message to say that they have a high number of calls at present and ask you to leave your details so that they can call you back by COB next day.

I left my details, but no one has called back :-|

I can only guess that if the number is overloaded (= frequently engaged) and haven't called back that they must be totally under resourced...???

I've tried calling the sales number - 131 747 - got to speak to someone very quickly (strange how this part of a business always has enough staff!!!) but the most they could offer was to send an internal email to someone to say that customers cannot get through to the Asia Miles number.

Does anyone know how I can actually speak to someone?

I wanting to enquire whether my wife and I can pool our points to pay for a ticket for my mother-in-law.

Thanks!
James.

You could try calling the Hong Kong number at +852 2312 0883.

It is my understanding that you cannot pool your miles or transfer miles between members. However, Asia Miles does allow for one-way awards so you may be able to redeem one way from your account, and the return flight from your wife's account.

I think you can set up redemption groups within Asia Miles and transfer between members of that group. It is an expensive exercise though.

I know this isn't the same thing, but I guess you just need to wait and give it time. I needed to phone Qantas today (on my sisters behalf) and the first time after 8 minutes on hold the call was dropped. I called back and after about 12 minutes on hold the second time I had my issue resolved, though I had some fast-talking to do (as I was calling on behalf of my sister and apparently only she can call... even though she's at boarding school). They were good though, they sorted it out. Give it time.

Also, Asia Miles has the whole of Asia, pretty big place. Qantas, mainly Australia I would guess. Not so big, population wise.

It usually takes ages to get someone on the line if you have no status...due to the large volume of calls they received everyday.

But for the people who have status, the usual wait time is around less than 1 min on the phone.

Anyhow, there is one trick if you don't want to spend too much time for overseas call rate.

You can call around 3:00am - 7:00am AEST (1am-5am HK time), this period the volume is generally less and you should be able to get someone on the line fairly quickly.
