Asia Miles Changes

My take:

Frequent flyer perspective:
Not ideal for frequent flyers, as 'enhancements', are hidden in the extra tier of pricing.

Will the award inventory be split between the two tiers? For example, if 8 seats are released as award inventory, are these split into 4x tier 1 and 4x tier2 when previously they would be 8x standard pricing.

Which set of award inventory will Oneworld/partner airlines access?

Loyalty program & carrier perspective:
Excellent move.
It allows for greater revenue on a per award flight redemption and also avoids a straight up miles devaluation.
With another minor tweak, it could protect CX flights from the unlimited numbers of US points customers.

Priority awards aren't new but the 2 tiers are - have never had to book one yet but it seems likely they're being introduced to move by stealth to higher redemption rates

Noticed this as I was looking at a CX redemption to LHR next year for Mrs andye. CX seems best current option for combination of points (especially return), taxes and availability. Hope the availability doesn't drop off-they are one of the few carriers who have over 4 seats available if you book early

Hi guys newbie to Asia miles with this new tier if i can see a ticket available online in the higher tier can this be booked, i need to transfer points over but reluctant if i can't get the higher tier (i.e if its a waitlist or ghost seat). I tired calling Asia miles but the person i got wasn't very helpful and kept referring to waitlist instead of tier two redemptions... should i just try calling up and getting a different agent?
