Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

I fully expect this test to be investigated over match fixing. When a clown like Warner scores a test hundred it must flag up somewhere with the powers that be.

Bounce and pace - poms don't fancy these things!

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Stumps, day 3.

Australia 295 & 401/7d
England 136 & 24/2 (15.0 ov)
England require another 537 runs with 8 wickets remaining

Otherwise known as England two wickets down in their quest to make the greatest ever 4th innings chase by 100 runs or so.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

No need to bother with the scores, Australia won the test yesterday when the English batsmen [-]carried out the instructions of a bookmaker from the sub-continent[/-] surrendered to Mitchell Johnson. :p

LOL!

Come to think of it, anyone think the bookies might have really had a field day on this? I mean, if it wasn't the odds of who was going to win (surely against Australia), then it would've been the odds pertaining to how the match has unfolded!

The English pundits (press and public) are all claiming, "It's just one test match." They been beaten like fodder in the first of a series and have come back delivering a hiding, including against Australia. Not sure if they're right, but we know England isn't going down (even in this test) without swinging hard.

I am sure the bookies were aware that England has not won at the Gabba since Warner was a newborn (1986), and 1988 was the last time Australia lost.

Great year that one (other than the poms winning) 19 something and really enjoying life!

Talking to a couple of Poms on the bus. They realise local conditions and conditions meant a lot, but they are off to PJ O'Briens to drown their sorrows

They've seen nothing. Perth......I'm already laughing!

:p

No boy who attends Randwick Boys High School in Sydney is a clown.
Pure achievement.

Heard rumbling on the horizon.

If weather saves England in this test, that's gonna put a boot in the Aussie morale.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Heavens just opened. Hopefully this doesn't start to affect the test.

It's supposed to be God save the Queen, not God save the English cricket team.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

That arrogance is back! Now I remember. What happened to winning and losing with dignity? Is there any need to carry on like clowns?

P.S The weather came around 8 hours too late. I hope the rest of the test is washed out....

A bit harsh John. As a pom I hope Australia go on to inflict the crushing defeat England so richly deserves in this test. Personally I reckon Australia has shown some real fight. The only regret for me is that Brad Haddin did not get the century he deserved. I still think David Warner is a clown though.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

The most significant thing about this test is that Lyon has proven he is a spinner of substance, and must remain in the team.

I agree that England deserves to lose.

Australia do not need to carry on this way.
