Suites is a wonderful product. The First not so much. A lot of foot traffic going past, noise from the galley and privacy not as it should be in First.

Some of us here seem to live in SQ First/Suites so I'll temper my opinion with the caveat that I have comparatively limited experience.

IMHO, I'd take Suites Class any day, except on overnight flights. The "bed" is hideously rock hard and causes more back and neck trouble than it's worth. Otherwise, the pointy end on SQ puts most airlines to shame. If only SQ would release more First Saver awards - wishful thinking I know.

Haven't flown suites yet but my favorite F hard product is the EY Apartments on the A380.

Maybe someone who has done both can share how they compare?

My Apartment experience was a while ago, but I don't think its changed. Prefer the SQ version, marginally.

I recall the EY bed to be very firm and with virtually no air circulation, it got pretty hot. I recall an 'on board chef' who could prepare a meal for you that wasn't on the menu, if they had the ingredients. Wifi excellent - I watched live rugby world cup.

SQ bed also very firm and also no air vents, but I didn't feel hot. Menu meals excellent.

SQ crew probably better.

I will gladly take F Saver over Suites Advantage award. I was lucky and happy to get the old A380 Suites on Saver shortly before it retired.

I've flown the SQ F (777 first) last year and have an upcoming trip with the first leg in SQ F and the second in SQ R (A380 suites).

I cant comment on the R experience but F is probably the best I have flown where I have done EK F about 10 times (non-gamechanger) and 1 flight in JL F.

Best Pre-Boarding Experience - SQ, as the private entrance, private security and customs is amazing

Best Lounge - SQ, as the TPR is probably the best lounge in the world only for F&R passengers which is what JL should do in their upstairs section of the HND lounge. TPR has a private chef that made items off the menu and the wine list (think same experience as onboard)

TPR didn't serve business class lounge wines like EK where you have to hunt for F wines and J lounge in DXB has the Moet Chandon bar which serves better champagnes than the F lounge.

Best Wine List - EK (special mention to JL for the 1 bottle of 2013 Salon Champagne but then downgrade to something horrible after), EK' list is slightly better and load a lot of bottles incl Dom Perignon than SQ (1 bottle of Krug as per my experience) but only comparing this to 1 SQ F flight.

Best Menu - SQ with the book the cook but overall the standard F menus on the 3 we flew are pretty good

Best Service - SQ/ EK - equal, EK is very attentive and don't close the bar when starting decent and will ask you if you want anything additional and offer in a paper cup. EK will also meet you at the airport to escort to the lounge in DXB (with a buggy) if in transit and escorted upon arrival in MLE.

Best Seat - EK, the colour scheme and little areas of drinks and snacks is amazing

Best Bed - EK, very comfortable but cant say I slept on the SQ flight

Best Amenity Kit (incl. Pjs) - EK overall with bvlgari amenities (special mention to JL who have the best PJ's)

Best Bathroom (incl. Toilet) - EK (A380 has a shower which is hands down the winner)


I agree that more saver fare should be released and keen to see others take on how SQ compares?

The allure of Suites/R is by far greater than that of F on the 777s. There's substantially more fan fare and the ambience is unmatched. Especially given it's on an A380, as people go out of their way to fly these even in Y; if they have any interest in aviation as a whole.

However, F is still something special but only if you're travelling with a partner. The seat/bedding is superb.

The better half and I are travelling to Europe in the second half of this year. We are going Singapore J (A380) Sydney to London then F/Suites Paris to Sydney (which is an wedding anniversary surprise), so it will be interesting 1) to experience the difference J/F/Suites and 2) see her reaction to first class. Neither of us have ever flown business or first/suites long haul before. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about and not being squashed in an economy seat.

My 2 cents. Any seat A380/777 in F is good. I have been fortunate enough to try both. The service is out of this world and the soft product is excellent. Food and alcohol selection is great too. Obviously Suites is the more Instagrammable/ bucket list product but the 777 is very good and the seat is extremely comfortable. The ground experience is Singapore is good with the private check in and The Private Room but when flying in F from an outstation, they could add more to the ground experience.

Having flown suites recently, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience apart from one thing.

The sleeper service out of Singapore is quite light on food. I understand most people might want to sleep but having the option like Qatar to dine on demand with more menu options would have been great.

In terms of the lounge, the TPR is one of the best. But I think Al Safwa and the Pier/Wing are still ahead for me. The Pier first offers complimentary massages while the Wing has those cabanas. Neither have an extensive F&B menu like TPR though.

Emirates offer chauffeur to the airport. I think they can be a bit more creative. Maybe someone to greet you when you land in SIN and take you to The Private Room. Maybe have a golf buggy waiting? Some airlines in outstations have a personal escort to the lounge.

I do remember asking the TPR for a buggy to take us to our gate and the response was 'we need to see if it is available' we did get it in the end but it should be a more tailored service and agree with the massages.

Im keen to try QR & CX in F and see how it rates. We do have a flight ex SIN with QF in April (wife is in F & I'm in J) but not holding high expectations

Incredible video and covered the experience very well. The only let down is the TPR has reduced its wine a little with previously offering Piper Heidsieck Rare, Comtes de Champagne & Chateau Leoville Poyferre (bordeaux red) back in July 2024. I really hope they lift their game

I was able to get a buggy to the gate. That was pretty easy. My parents are trying CX F in October. I’m keen to try EY Apartments.

I've very recently just flown in my first SQ suite (I've previously flown SQ's F B777 product multiple times, so I was really excited to finally try out their suite).

As much as I love the A380 (a piece of of engineering mastery) and SQ (never had a bad experience with them thus far), I have the possibly controversial opinion of preferring their First product to their Suites product.

The staff, food & drink, service, attention, access to The Private Room are amazing with both.

The amount of room you get with the suite, along with the privacy of the quite tall door, is also amazing.

What I wasn't so fond of was the sleeping orientation - rather than being in-line with the aircraft, you're at the opposite orientation. (I understand that it's done this way so that you can lower the partition and have a double suite with a double bed if you're travelling as a couple.) Therefore, as the plane rocks, it moves your body in an unusual way. I also found the bed to be on the harder side (certainly more so than the F product). I barely got any sleep, sadly. I accept that this could just be that I'm not used to it.

Another thing that I didn't quite like was that during take-off and landing, the seat and the tv need to be in their stowed positions (which makes sense), however, this makes it very uncomfortable to watch the tv with your neck at 90 degrees.

I understand that these things are very first-world problems. I am so fortunate that I was able to finally give it a go (I missed out last year due to a scheduling conflict). I love SQ, I love the A380. This is just my opinion. Thank you for listening.

I hadn’t really thought about it before, but I actually agree. Even when we tried to sleep on the flight, I didn’t get much rest at all.


As for the TPR, just a quick update since our previous flights in July 2025 and January 2026, they’ve really lifted their game. The wine selection is now excellent, and the service continues to be impeccable.
