Always got points on mine though mostly bought at supermarkets
Giftcards are clearly not cash. Once bought they are all restricted in some way usually by store. Even the wide-ranging ones restrict eg eftposgift can't be used online, only1 will only be accepted where credit/debit cards are
And none can be used to settle a credit card bill

never heard of any type of credit card treating gift card purchases in this way. Ridiculous article in my view.

I recall a previous thread about this article or a previous version of the article. I recall my comment then was something like 'Finder has no idea what it's talking about.' Seems nothing has changed.
