Article: Bizarre Airline Lounge Access Restrictions at Bangkok Airport

I was at BKK yesterday, flying SQ as a Star Gold with UA. Of course I had access to the SQ lounge, which is OK, if not prone to overcrowding.

However, I thought I'd test if the apparent new "rules" were being enforced, and so visited one of the (somewhat improved) TG lounges. I was welcomed with open arms, so obviously Thai seems quite happy to admit Star Gold flyers form other Alliance airlines, if they are on an eligible flight.

Perhaps the airport authorities have had a rethink, based on feedback?

More information needed.
What flight? What status?

Did you try CX, or just AF then QR
Sorry for the delay - I was flying QF296 in J class. Tried AF then QR, was going to try CX but then realized that the QR had just opened.

I'm flying out of BKK on SQ in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see if my Star Gold status will get me into the other Star Alliance Lounges (eg TG, TK, BR). If not I'll have to slum it in the SQ lounge.
Slumming it? The BKK SQ lounge is my wife's favourite SQ lounge. I tend to agree. Lots of variety including this gem of pork medallions and mashed potato. Thai's are not usually good with mash potato. This was delicious. I didn't need any other food.

Has this issue now been resolved? I will be looking to explore the star alliance lounges at BKK later in the year. I will be flying Thai and was hoping to try other star alliance operated lounges (SQ & BR) as well.

I was in BKK last week and can confirm I could visit all the different star alliance lounges before my Thai airways business class flight.

Interestingly, the Turkish lounge had a complimentary massage service.

Yep. Believe the craziness is over.

Note that QF elites can't visit the EK lounge, and sometime soon QF and oneworld pax won't be able to visit the QR lounge, as access to the SAT terminal is restricted to those departing from that terminal.

Any Lounge recommendations before flying Finnair AY142 at 7:05am? I'll be flying Business class and also have Priority Pass. I think Finnair defaults to the Miracle Business Lounge but I suspect I can do better.

The QR lounge is lovely. Typical of their outstation premium lounges.

Others you may have access to depending on the whim of AOT are CX, JL and WY.
Don’t bother with the JL lounge it’s very ordinary.

Got 2hrs there in October arriving on TG at 0600 and departing on TG 0800, I’m not sure what lounges are open but any recommendations as I’m not a very frequent flyer with Star Alliance

My choice is the TG 'Prestige' lounge on concourse D.
Decent food, drink and showers.
Some prefer SQ.
I'm unsure which of the others will be open at that time.
