Are Virgin succeeding with their pledge to keep LCC as well as full service?

I find it amusing that the same people that are saying "I wont fly Jetstar because they are unreliable" are knocking tiger and refusing them as well.

I've never been aboard TT so I can't comment about them at all, but JQ was my preferred carrier between JQ and DJ a few years back. I preferred the planes (I personally thought the seats were comfier on JQ) and I hated the DJ crew giggling over the audio from start to finish of flight. In fact I loathed the idea of flying DJ and the only thing that coaxed me across was the introduction of SCs and the Lounge benefit. But that was when DJ and JQ were very similarly priced. The ball park has shifted again and what I'm starting to see in the way of fare difference, more than comfortably makes up for a coffee and toastie in the Lounge.

That's also why I used to avoid DJ - the airhead jokes from the minute you'd set foot on the aircraft was like you were getting on a party bus. I thought if there was ever an emergency situation on board, these are exactly the people i DON'T want to be in charge!

Never going to happen, points are so easy to get they become a big factor in the equation for this playing the game for a while, and on that score JQ stinks when it comes to redemptions!

To be fair DJ have moved a lot of that old crowd on now and have evidently trained the rest to shut up.... Last 10 flights with them I've only had 1 stupid joke cracking CSM.

That was me that started that train of thought and it was part of my explanation about why I use to choose JQ over DJ. I certainly agree DJ crew are very professional now (as a whole), which pleases me no end. Sorry if my comment was construed as a reference to the current DJ crew. It wasn't meant to be.

As for DJ vs JQ, I will never book DJ where there is a similar or better JQ flight available (and that's not hard to find these days). DJ's points accrual is pathetic if you're flying on a cheap(ish) fare, whereas with JQ you can pay a little extra and get full QF FF credit.

Also, as a QF Gold FF, I can gain access to the Qantas Club lounges when flying JQ. Can't do that with DJ. In fact I tried to do a status match with DJ, but they just sent me a rude letter, so that has really put me off them.

My father applied as QF Silver just for fun and they gave him Velocity gold (presuambly it was just an error!). He'd also sworn off DJ a couple of years ago due to lame jokes as fares approached QF levels, but he's now requalified as velocity gold and is ditching QF long haul to fly SQ instead.

There is NO similar or better JQ flight when compared to VA

JQ is a joke but yes their FF earning is better than VA until you hit Gold/Platinum with VA

As for failing the status match, I have no idea how/why that would happen
