Hey everyone.

Well, by next week, I'll have finally crossed from Bronze Lifetime QP to PS (with lifetime QP). Then in March, it's a run SYD-LAX, followed by some status credit runs, and I'll emerge, for the first time, a WP (if all goes well).

Three days will then pass in San Francisco, then I'm going to be flying SFO-LAX-SYD, and then a day later, SYD-CNS.

I'm just wondering, if I become a newly minted WP on the journey, are the benefits of WP (like T4 and TBIT F lounge access at LAX) going to be automatically available to me, or do I have to wait for the card to arrive?

And after you reach a level like WP for the first time, how long is it before the card and welcome pack arrives?

Looking forward to finally being one of the team - and heading to the SYD F Lounge every so often. As I was the one that started a bit of a furore in a thread by discussing how to get to the F Lounge without flying, it'll be nice to be able to do it of my own accord now!

If the flights have posted to your QFF account by then and your status has clicked over to Platinum then print a copy of yoiur account and keep it with you. It should allow you lounge entry and other Platinum benefits.

Usually takes 10-14 days but with NGCI tags the way may well be longer.

Theoretically, yes, the benefits should be available to you when you cross over the SC threshhold (but it may take a day or so for the flight to be posted and the account to be updated). Your next boarding pass should say QF Platinum/oneworld Emerald. If this is the case, you should have no problems at TBIT. I'd be a little bit more uncertain about LAX T4, as the AA staff often seem to like to see the actual card as well. But I'm sure you could explain to their satisfaction.

As for the time to get the WP pack, when I got mine, it was a couple of weeks after qualifying. This time, it might depend on how things are going with the rollout of all the NGCI cards/tags, though, so might take a bit longer.

In my experience usually takes one working day if your flights are on QF but longer if on a one world partner

The AA flights *may* post in the required time, but don't count on it. They do post fairly quickly though.

x_x I am flying through OOL next friday, hope my pack arrives by then...

Also, I hope they still let me into the JAL F Lounge with only my BP sayign OWE.

As said above, print out a copy of your QFF summary, showing your are Platinum, and as for the JQ lounge, I’m not sure if you can get in there, the FAQ contradicts itself and I don’t know of any plats that have tried. Be prepared to pay $15.

With AA, last time i flew them as WP it was printed in bold OW EMERALD and had PRIORITY boarding printed :) no need for card with the bp

With OOL, JQ lounge- no problems with the WP card- i took in 2 guest + 2 kids

excuse my ignorance but why is it called WP when it is Emerald Plat......

Emerald is the equlivilent status across Oneworld alliance airlines.
Platinum is the status level conferred by QFF.
WP (Wanker Platinum) is the acronym used around here for referencing QFF Platinums.

Thanks, guys - it has allayed one of my concerns - that after all the flying in the USA to get WP, I won't be able to enjoy it on the way home!

Looking forward to this.

As for AA flights posting; in late January, my Flights on AA posted to QFF within 12 Hours of travel. Three were on a Wednesday, the other three a Friday.

This is the first time I have had such AA flights post so quickly.

I can only hope for this when I do the YUPP run!

Just to confuse everyone. The acronyms were the result of a few drunks at the Flyertalk AGM many years ago with nothing better to do on the day....

W@nker Platinum ...

My AA Flights in Oct/Nov last year also posted extremely quickly. All of them within 24 hours of flying.

I'm hoping this is now the norm rather than the exception. Perhaps there's a more frequent transfer between AA and QF now.

We weren't drunk ... but I do clearly remember that "some" beers were most definitely consumed prior to the definition process ;)

I can confirm that AA flights are posting very quickly these days - faster than Qantas flights!

On a recent trip with 16 flight segments, I had the following experience:

  • Domestic YUPP to F on AA - 4 flights all posted in less than 24 hours - two of them before I even got off the next connecting flight!
  • International J on AA - 2 flights posted within 2 days
  • International Y on AA - 2 flights posted within 3 days
  • Domestic JASA on Qantas x2 - posted after 4 days, but with no points or SCs! (fixed with a call to QFF)
  • 5 flights with JAL in J - 2 took two weeks, another 3 weeks, and one took 3 emails and 3 phone calls to QFF to sort out! (Apparently the call centre staff don't understand that Narita isn't the only airport in Tokyo!)
  • 1 flight with Virgin America took 3 weeks to credit to Velocity

So expect the AA points/SCs to credit fairly quickly!
