It's long been a dream of mine to have the time to take the Aranui around French Polynesia but so far time has not permitted. I think it was the Aranui 3 when I first got interested. So I was excited to glimpse the Aranui 5 from my hotel in Hiva Oa this morning. One day....
It's the perfect size ship for ports like this. The big 2,000 or 3,000 pax ships would ruin these sleepy towns if they disgorged everyone at once.
