Do these sorts of promotion come up frequently?

re: Aquire "10,000 points" promotion - are these common?

Double and triple points offers, and bonus points for using a new partner come up reasonably frequently - I didn't / haven't got this offer yet

Yes, they come out every few weeks. There was one a few months back where all you had to do was buy something over $50 from one of the Acquire partners. I bought a carton of A4 paper online from Staples and received 10,000 points.

Aquire seems like a nice way to earn some extra points if these kinds of offers are regular!

Does anyone have a link to the old 10,000 pts / spend at e.g. staples offer? I recall that offer didn't have an expiry and I just spent at staples this week. :)

I am fairly sure it did have an expiry but I never delete emails so I will try to find it for you.

Can't find the link but the email I received had this:

"The 10,000 bonus Aquire Points offer for earning with an Aquire partner is only valid for new Aquire Members that join between 1 - 30 November 2015 and earn a minimum of 100 Aquire Points in a single transaction with any Aquire partner between 1 November 2015 and 29 February 2016. Aquire Points may take up to 90 days after the original transaction date to appear in the Aquire Member's account. If the minimum of 100 Aquire Points is earned with Qantas, the bonus 10,000 Aquire Points will be credited to the Aquire Members' account as Pending Points and will count towards the Qantas Annual Earn Target if the target has not yet been met at the time the bonus points are credited. Refer to the applicable partner's terms and conditions as Aquire Points fulfilment timings may vary. Bonus Aquire Points will be credited to the Members' Aquire account within 30 days after the eligible Aquire Points earned with the partner appear in the Members' Aquire account."

At 2 points per $1 at Staples, I spent $50 on A4 and received the 10,000 points extra.

There have been some lucrative offers with 10k earned for a $1 - $2 spend but it can be hard work sometimes.
There are numerous posts in the Aquire thread on how long some bonus / partner points take to post, and the frustrations of trying to chase the points up with neither party taking responsibility. AFAIR the bonus points (inc double and triple points offers) can be transferred out of Aquire without passing the annual 20k threshold - you can only transfer points earned from flights after earning 20k from flights. As a guide MEL-SYD discount Y fare earns 240 Aquire points, flexi Y 440, MEL-PER discount Y is 440 and flexi Y is 880 points. Points earned from QF flights under the 20k each year are pending, these only convert to usable/transferable points once the threshold is met. Aquire points accrue but pending points do not, so lots of people loose all of them every year. There are other little quirks and ambiguities in their t&c's that are discussed in the Aquire thread.

Go in with your eyes open, but yes it is definitely a viable option for ABN holders to pick up some extra points

Thanks Guvner!
