So now that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus have been announced, who is looking to upgrade?

I bought my 5s this time last year, so I reckon it has another year to go before I get a new one.

I was pleased to see that the memory is 128Gb. Finally I can fit my music on my phone.

This coincides with the iPod classic going the way of the dodo.

My contract is up tomorrow, so I am holding off to see what my provider is doing with their pricing post release.

Just posted this over on the OTT

I'm free contract wise come the 22nd of this month. Currently have a Samsung G3 and can't wait to drop-kick to one of the kids ... I'll get a 6 if I can walkout with it - otherwise I'll be happy with a 5S. I'm over big screens!

Hmmm, my 5S will be 12mths old in October (time flies!!!) and I just got a 5C (under contract) for a new AU number; this time next year, the 5S will be due for an upgrade - lets see what I'm offered!

Like you Jessica, I love the fact it comes in 128GB - iPod can stay at home and I can load it all onto the phone.

Of course, just as soon as I upgrade to the 6Plus, the 7 will be released 12 mths later. ;)

I'll be upgrading from a 4S to a 6, just a matter if seeing if I'm better off on a new plan or buying outright. The new plans seems to go up in price and down in data...

I'm very unsure. Up until the announcement I was leaning towards the 6, but I want to walk into a store and hold both in my hand first. I'm annoyed that they didn't just keep the 6 the same size (thickness) as the 6+ and then done away with the camera lens sticking out. That way they could have perhaps added IS (image stabilisation) to both models and given the smaller model some slightly better battery life. It would have still been thinner than the 5S, but they really are about beauty and not functionality.

Having seen the keynote and looked through the specs, AND having recently had my 5 replaced due to the battery replacement program, I'm thinking I might wait for the 6S that will hopefully have bigger speed improvements, but retain the same package (though maybe, hopefully, get rid of the camera bulge).

Icing on the cake is that the Apple Watch works with the 5 upwards, so I could buy the watch next year, it'd work fine with my current phone and also next years upgrade.

Of course, all this is meaningless if Telstra offers a nice incentive to upgrade through our business plan. I'm not holding my breath though.

Wonder why they switched from S to plus?

The "S" designator has always been the second release of a model, a speedbump but not a change in design. You had the 3G, and in the same package the 3GS. Then the 4 had a new design and the 4S brought improvements but it looked much the same. Again, they had the 5 and a year later the 5S. The 6 is a new design, the two screen sizes don't warrant an S, next year they will if they keep the same relative design but improve the internals.

The better question would be why they ditched "Air" or "mini" to differentiate models, as they have done for the iPad or iPod. I'm glad they did though, seems less gimmicky than "Air".

I have a 5 and my contract is up in a month, at which time i'll probably upgrade.

At least by then any bugs should be fixed.

For me its good to be able to put the phone in my pocket, so the + is probably out.

I'm going go with the 6 Plus. I need a bigger screen. Getting old and blind
