Just wondering how people having been finding their 5C/S upgrades? Am considering taking advantage of the Apple sale and Amex $50 credit to upgrade.

Very happy with the 5S over the 5. I thought the fingerprint reader was a gimmick, but it's actually excellent and saves me heaps of time each day.

I would not buy a 5C. I'd rather find a discontinued 5 for less money than a 5C.

I jumped onto the iPhone wagon with a 5S. It's been great, and compared to the previous models, I'm very happy I went with it over the extremely cheap 4S that is on offer in TH ( or the 5Cheap).

I don't use the fingerprint reader, so can't comment but have found the new IOS easy to use and whilst others have complained about the look of the icons, they don't faze me in the least.

If you can get a good deal on an upgrade to the 5S - I'd say "Go for it!" Living in TH, I had to buy outright, but the lack of bloated apps added by the phone companies and great deal I got on my calls etc, far outweighed my choosing to buy here in AU and taking back with me.

In all honesty, I'm wondering why I waited so long to get one, they are truly amazing!! :D

Thanks for the feedback.

Deka, what's the main reason why you wouldn't buy the 5C? Is it the processor, or the plastic body or other reasons??

Good to hear that you have been happy with the phone Archphoto - thanks for the feedback.

love touch ID on the 5S. Hate entering pass codes on my iPad now :p. Wish they had also put it into the new iPad Air...

The fingerprint reader is great. Just set it up for every finger that you could/would normally use and off you go. (I use first finger and thumb on each hand)

Being an older processor, it will be retired at the same time as the iPhone 5 from software updates (so likely 3 years from October). The iPhone 5s will most likely have a 4 year life of software updates.

Whilst I hate Kogan with a passion, they're selling iPhone 5C's at *well* below Apple's prices:
Apple iPhone 5c (16GB, White)
My dad just bought one and it took a few weeks, but arrived just fine and he's loving it (mind you he's come from an ancient Nokia).

They also have 5S there but they're not as good (but still cheaper). I believe they're sourced in HK, so LTE will work fine, and Apple provide global warranties on their handsets, no issues whatsoever.

IMHO, 3 years in Mobile world is the equivalent of 15 years in normal life. Things change so quickly. Who knows what will be on the market in 3 years.

whats the reason for the 'hatred' of Kogan?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Sadly the iPhones are not included in the Apple shopping event today, so not sure that the Amex $50 credit alone will be enough to sway me to update at present :(

Agree, and I typically switch phones once a year but a 3-4 year life means I can "hand me up" to my parents, or if I choose to sell, the retained value is pretty good at about 66% after a year and 40% after 2 years.

I shall follow this thread with interest as I am looking to upgrade from the 4s, the only thing that disappoints is that Apples 4 g is not in use in Australia as yet. I would have got an upgrade by now if their 4g LTE was compatible here.

Sure is. iPhone 5 onwards is LTE (I'm using it now).

If you buy a US iPhone or some other region, then it will not work.

The iPad Air Cellular works "globally" on LTE though (confirmed as I have one I bought in the USA). It's moving towards a global radio, and i'd expect the next iteration of the iPhone to try and integrate it (integrating so many frequencies and bands along with antenna requirements is no mean feat).

iPhone 5, 5S and 5C are all full LTE, when purchased here.

The iPhone 5c is clearly marked and advertised as global LTE 4 G

But I am unable to confirm the same with 5s

Has anybody found info about it?

They're advertised as "Global Phones" not global lte.

The iPad air is global lte though.

This link is useful with LTE info and countries

Ah global phone can be a three G device

I am specifically interested in 4 G performance

Cheers
