I am a NZ citizen with Australian PR status. I have recently gotten an APEC card for convenience. Since then (even when I am not using the card for entry/departure from Australia) the officer started to stamp my passport (which they didn't have to do when they put the PR status electronically into my passport). I then found the following on some website. It is a bit too late now that I have already gotten the APEC card, and don't really want to part with it! Any advice?[h=3]Permanent resident applying for an APEC Business Travel Card[/h]If you are a permanent resident who applies and is granted an APEC Business Travel Card, this will automatically cease the visa you currently hold. This is because APEC Business Travel Card holders are granted a temporary Business (Short Stay) (Subclass 456) visa. If you are a permanent resident visa holder, please contact the nearest departmental office before applying for your APEC Business Travel Card.

Have you phoned DIAC? Have they actually cancelled your PR completely? Does that then have implications for Medicare and the likes?
