Have I missed something here?

Nope you've got 3 more days (27th Oct). :)

ANZ Rewards Black | ANZ

ANZ Black is 3PPD on Amex 2PPD on Visa. Transfer rate to KF is 3:1 which is effectively 1PPD on Amex or 0.66PPD on Visa.... (ATO Friendly)

Unless you're talking about the transfer bonus, in which case they had one last year in November I think...

Yes transfer bonus - it's like forever since I have seen transfer bonus to KF with any CC providor

So im thinking about signing up for the redards (non-QFF one as all points are with virgin) which would net 22 200 points whats the requirements for the black? (anual income) anyone know? would be intrested for the lounge access ect. Otherwise im thinking about going for the citi fee free for life with 1 to 1 on visa.

any recommendations?
Before you transfer points out to virgin, just be aware that ANZ rewards transfers have to be in blocks of 2,250 - so you'll have to either transfer out 20,250 (with some left over) or ensure you spend a couple of hundred dollars on the card (Amex earning more) to get you up to 22,500 points upon transfer. In other words you can't just spend $0.01 or $1 to activate it and transfer all your points to virgin

Hi all

I signed up and was approved for a ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card a few weeks ago. I have paid $1500+ bills through the card and am just waiting on the credit of my 50,000 points.

I hadn't noticed before but ANZ also has a separate offer for 50,000 rewards points (as opposed to ff points). You can exchange these points for points in a number of programs but the exchange rate is less than 1 to 1. I had seen the offer before but disregarded it as the exchange rate was not so high.

However since then I've researched a bit more and discovered the Oneworld 140,000 qantas points award. If you use Cathay for a leg you can upgrade that leg using Asia miles. And you can exchange ANZ rewards fro Asia miles.

Also the ANZ rewards offer costs nothing for the first year (assuming you cancel before the first year is up). I found I could exchange 50,000 anz rewards for 25,000 asia miles. 30,000 miles can be exchanged for an upgrade from economy to business for a one way flight up to 5000 miles long or 40,000 miles can get an upgrade for a flight up to 7,500 miles long. So with just a few extra miles i should be able to upgrade one of the legs on a round the world trip. With a bit of expenditure on the card it should not be too difficult to get enough reward points to make up the difference. And the total cost - $0.

I applied today for the minimum $1,000 credit limit and got approval straight away. Hopefuly I'll get the extra 50,000 rewards points bonus.

I think you'll find that award tickets are generally non-upgradeable with points or miles

Q: Can I upgrade some of the segments to fly business/first class?
A: In limited circumstances. Your options are: (a) you can upgrade your entire itinerary - subject to availability - by paying the higher class fare but otherwise without penalty, (b) flights operated by AA may be upgraded with AA miles, (c) US/Canada domestic flights operated by AA may be upgraded with 500-mile "sticker" upgrades issued by AA, (d) flights on BA that offer World Traveler Plus (WT+) service can be upgraded for USD300/AUD600 except for service between LHR and SYD/MEL where the charge is USD450/AUD900, (e) flights operated by CX may be upgraded using CX miles, and (f) flights operated by QF may be upgraded using QF miles/upgrade credits. BA also offers "on board" upgrades for prices ranging from GBP200 up if there is a spare seat on board. Talk to the purser when you board, but these upgrades only qualify for the mileage/status you originally booked. For instance if you were in BA economy and upgraded on board to WT+ for GBP200 on LHR-SIN, you only get the discount economy miles, not the WT+ miles.

I am tempted to apply for either the ANZ Platinum Rewards or ANZ Platinum FF and get another 50,000 points. Mind you the platinum FF has that $299 price tag (ouch).

Yep i am aware of that, will probably use this card for a bit anyway (main card amex atm is 1:1 so this is slightly better earn rate anyway) and it converts 2.25:1 and i will earn 3:1 and visa 1:0.88 (better than my current CBA which i try to avoid using these days)

Supersonic Swinger is correct.
The One World Explorer is a paid ticket. This is different to a Qantas One World Award which is a special type of Classic Award.
You cannot do an upgrade on a Classic Award with any type of FF points or miles.

I see you are correct. The ANZ rewards page is misleading. Thanks for correcting me.

The Velocity rate is better thus 50,000 points = 22,222 velocity points. As I will have already accrued 40,000 from the NAB c/c offer this will add up to 62,222 points. Almost a one way trip to Europe.

That's right. Also worth holding off if you can for a possible transfer bonus offered by virgin.

I just got my 50,000 Qantas points from my black card today. So maybe they are doing a sweep. Check your accounts.

Mrs Excel got her 3rd statement today - no bonuses. Hit 1.5k on 2nd statement. Hit 1.5k on my own 2nd statement but also no news on bonus points.

Yes 50K in my ANZ Black Rewards account now. Not swept through to QFF yet. This is basically bang on T&C in timing.

Not in other cards, but they did not reach the $1500 till later, and so are not due by T&C yet.
