Last week, I spent >$1500 on my Black card as well as +1's basic card, within 6 weeks of obtaining the cards...let's see when the 50K pts x2 post!

Like others, after eeking out the $1500 spend on the Black Amex, I am now waiting for the 50k to post (1 month down, 3 to go?).

I am happy that the annual fee has been waived for the first year as this card/s has limited use in real life. I am still putting far more spend through my Bankwest QF Platinum card due to the 1:1 earn on MC purchases and no FX surcharges. Paying the (up to) 3% surcharge to use the Amex in Australia or for all FX purchases is not worth the extra 0.5pt/$. This may change in mid November however when Bankwest 'enhance' their card and reduce the points earn to 0.75pts/$ for existing customers (already 0.75pt/$ for new customers).

This is exactly the cards I have and the way I use them... and first I've heard of the changes for existing users... how upsetting

This seems to be the longest 4 months ever for those of us still waiting on our 50K. I think, to take the anxiety out of for people like me who are impatient and start niggling at everything, that they should say, " Will post in 4 months", and stick to it for everyone.

Use AMEX when you can for 1.5 points, use a 1 point Visa / MasterCard when you can't use AMEX and it is all good. And be patient for your points, they said when they will post, any earlier is a bonus.

Mind you, I don't have any reason to get mine in a hurry.

Yes, that's my approach too.

I have the platinum card, received my points quite quickly.
Husband and son have the black card and haven't received their points.
In fact I don't recall any black cardholders mentioning receiving points here yet.
I could be wrong.

FWIW my Black just ticked over for the third statement period since activation - no bonus points yet. Only 1 more month to go :)

Hi everyone,
I got my first Black Frequent Flyer statement today (activated on 25 September) and on 5 October 2014 I was charged with a $370 annual fee and $55 reward program fee. As with the thread here and what I remember of the promo when I applied the annual fees were waived for the first year, but this doesn't seem to be the case with my account? Can anyone please explain to me how the first year annual fee waiver works? Are you all being hit with $425 to get 50k bonus FF points or does it automatically reverse at some point?

I activated my card about a month before you. Havent got the 50k pts yet, but I havent been charged the annual fee over the past 2 statement cycles. From memory the promotion changed at some point (I believe the cutoff was the 26th August) and the annual fee was no longer waived but the bonus pts remained. If I recall correctly ANZ were a little sneaky in that they said the offer was "extended" but didnt mention that the annual fee was no longer waived. You can call em and argue your case, but the fee should never have been charged in the first place if it was waived - ie it wont automatically reverse.

Im a bit late to the party with this one. Has the 50k QFF points (after $1500 spend) + no annual fee first year now finished? The best I can find is the 50k points with $95 annual fee which still seems like a pretty good deal (no annual fee now appears to be for 50k ANZ rewards points which are not nearly as valuable as QFF points).

Thanks

Yes the original first year free promo finished back in August IIRC. But I do agree that $95 for 50K QFF points isn't the worst deal in the world.

I was going to get the Velocity Amex which has 50k points for a $349 annual fee. This 50k for $95 QF seems like a much better deal!
