Current cheapest seems to be BNE-SYD return on 30th June for $129 each way - but will take up all day.
I did see that deal, though it said to be valid I needed to travel by 30th of June.... is that a bit of grey area around interpreting what they mean? Would the 29th be the latest or would the 30th be acceptable?

I'd guess that "by 30th June" means on or before, but don't be taking my word for it......

I just got a pretty quick response from Qantas.... Just need to travel by 11:59pm on the 30th. Looks like i'm going to Sydney for the day!

Any experience on paying the classic award taxes with the card and triggering the 75 SCs? And what about points + pay?

When I asked about a more detailed explanation from ANZ, they referred to new PNR's only. Making a purchase that triggers a new PNR is how they classify an eligible purchase for this purpose. You'd think that point+pay goes through OK but an award flight might be in a grey area.

Thanks, makes sense. I guess there would be an easy way to exclude award booking classes (which are excluded in the T&Cs) but probably not points + pay.

Interesting that the offer on the public site is slightly better than that on the Internet banking link.
Both have the same annual fee and same cash rebate, one has a greater initial outlay and greater reward.

100,000 bonus Qantas Points and $200 back
to your new ANZ Frequent Flyer Black

When you spend $4,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval1

It appears that you're viewing that from the ANZ IB Reward Points link - did you use your ANZ Visa card for any Qantas transactions by any chance? If so, you get an extra QFF point for every $1 spent on eligible Qantas transactions. In any case, it will be clear what the bonus is once your statement is issued in the "Qantas Points Earned this Period at Bonus Partners and Adjustments" section.

No Qantas purchases. Remains a mystery.

I did one transaction on classic award taxed around April last year. Pretty sure it counted back then. Not sure about now

Does anz still make you visit the branch to get your card activated these days? Or are they up with the times and post the card out to you?

Received this card 18 months ago and thinking of going again.

Will vary depending upon your circumstances.

My experience is this. I have just served my 12 months purgatory and just received the card. I also are still in possession of an ANZ Traveller Rewards card and mentioned so on the application.

So to answer your question, if you are verified with them somehow (in my case current card), then no, you do not have to activate your card in a branch - I activated it online. BUT, I do have to go into a branch to set a PIN on the card, so you have have to go to a branch. The only advantage I had was I'm able to use it on purchases on less than $100 and online shopping before going to the branch. FYI, I still haven't gone to the branch and my spend is approaching $1k. I may very well get to my $4k spend limit and not bother going to the branch.

Heh, I was certain that this card come with 2 QFF lounge passes. Finder's promo states that's the case along with the useless Veloce program, however I went to the ANZ website and I can't find anywhere that it says 2 QFF lounge passes (perhaps I'm a not having a good search day). I've had this card 3 times before (now 4 times) and each time it come with 2 passes so didn't pay too much attention when signing up.

Have I got this wrong?

They're digital now.

Your two complimentary Qantas Club lounge access passes per year with ANZ Frequent Flyer Black are now available in digital form. Please continue to call ANZ Personal Concierge on 1300 580 765 to confirm your eligibility and order your passes.

Thanks Piratematerial. Yes I knew they were digital, but the link you provide does indicate that they are provided so thanks again for that.

Also notice in the fine print that you actually have to call a 1300 # to get the passes activated to your account..

My partner and I both got this card, however only I received the digital lounge passes. Turns out I had to spend a certain amount on QF flights, which I did with my card but not my partners. Bugger.
