ANZ Amex card now with Chip & Pin and Contactless

Usually these terminals won't 'decline' a transaction but since they can't handle the chip (but know it's there) you have to insert the chip (and be told it doesn't read it) then you swipe the card and sign or enter your pin.

Yes, not declined by the bank technically. But very annoying that these chips cards which were issued by ANZ do not even work on their own ANZ branded terminals. You would think that being an ANZ branded terminal, ANZ Amex chip cards would work seamlessly without having the "chip not supported" message.

This is exactly what happens to my card when I try to use it at David Jones. Everywhere else, no problem at all.

Are any Sydney siders using their ANZ Amex with a chip being declined at Cityrail windows? I can buy tickets fine at a machine, but at the window, my AMEX always says its declined, when inserting it in (and it won't let me swipe, maybe because it reads that there's a chip on the card). Is anyone else having the same problem?

I have used mine at several places around Perth and Melbourne with zero problems, thus far LOL
