Anyone transferring/withdrawing qantas points?

I'm holding onto mine, I've just got enough for a J RTW award. Its going to be hard to predict whats going to happen with travel. There will be a mad rush i think for some on the first few days, but then I bet it settles into a level well below pre coronavirus levels until it builds up again.

One thing for certain is Domestic travel is likely this year, International travel is highly unlikely this year except maybe NZ. Qantas makes most of its money on domestic, so thats a good thing.

I don't believe in putting an imaginary value on points.

Although I have spent between $160-$270 for quite a few BNE-SYD flights the past couple of years which almost gives a real return of 2c/point.
I certainly put a value on but a low one, being $10 per 1000 points, based on a short domestic flight at 8000 points + ~$30. I wouldn't value points at the "value" you get from flying points in business, because I wouldn't be prepared to pay business with my own money.
You need some value on points when assessing whether it is worth paying a credit card annual fee or you are comparing cards.

There may well be a hell of a lot of people, many who havent had the opportunity to travel for many months - all trying to redeem a huge volume of banked up points at the same time. Wonder how QF will manage that liability? Especially for j class etc.

Sitting tight on our QFF points. And on our VA points as well as we had run them down to not much after they stopped flying to AUH long ago. After losing a truckload on the AN collapse my strategy has been burn, baby burn.

We have burned plenty of points on short haul domestic J seats on both airlines, not the best value I know. I wouldn’t pay for J BNE-SYD, it’s not worth it. But I know I am worth it:p.

Qantas points r bad value to buying products.. best value is round the world or upgrades.. qff is valued around billion dollars so my advise is wait..

I doubt many would do a major "run" on QFF unless they see no use on their points - I think QF is much more stable than VA

Like others, having run my QF points balance down to 68K, as a result of a bunch F award bookings being cancelled in the current circumstances, I'll be back to just over 1 million points again very shortly, and then wondering how/when I'll be able to use them again...

People are definitely cashing out of qff hence they impose a limit few days ago. Though I agree, it won't be a major run at this stage similar to VA from few weeks ago. My preference as most here is to redeem for flights/upgrades, though I have a feeling that flights upgrade is out of question for a very long time. All this assuming qan will hopefully survive with or without gov help. Not touching my points, I will be watching this space in coming days. Stay safe all.

I spent all mine last week, delivery tracking to arrive Thursday. Wish I had done Virgin earlier - looks like I have lost a tonne of points because they are only honouring up to 12 April
What tracking number do you use and which company? I have attempted to use my tracking number on several couriers and all I get is tracking number not known.

My gift cards came via aus post registered iirc

Shares lept back to $4+ the other day before settling in the lower regions again, as I'm sure the ASX will continue to dive for a while yet now, as many were expecting. In terms of points, however, I'd sit tight. Nothing I can do with them much anyway at this stage, so I'm happy to wait this out. The FF scheme is a money making necessity for QF so it's not likely they'll get rid of it, even if our points devalue noticably. Despite their cost cutting, and the still dire future of DJ, they hold the domestic market now. Lucky Roos!

I am sitting tight too and hoping that the time to use them is not far away. However I do expect the mother of all devaluations as soon as a regular flying schedule is announced.

They will match the market - if they do anything.... I’m not really that worried and anyway what’s the point you can’t control what happens anyway!

I have to confesse I burn a few k points for a hotel booking 100% points plus 0% pay. On the bright side, 5k bonus points for 3 nights booking made before 31 august, and 15SC to come.

Still, I am ashamed.

Don't be. A point has no value until it's used (literally, the T&Cs say so).
Yes, you could get more theoretical value on an upgrade or J or F flight, but everything is an opportunity cost and we all have our own personal circumstances to consider. If you made the call that's right for you, right now, then you did the right thing. Only you can make that call.

Haha we had hundreds of thousands of Ansett points, whichj went belly up in 2001

We would have been better off spending those hundred of thousands of points on a toaster!

Cheers skip
