Anyone Just Booked their Cruise (or are Planning to)?

Anyone planning to take a trip on the Icon of the Seas?

For a few days ex au east coast.. why not.. bit of an adventure and some quality time people watching …...

We’re doing our first Asia cruise at the moment also (been on many others around the world previously). But this one reminds of a former life and some of the coughpy ports you have to berth at outside the interesting POIs. It pays to plan your cruise and port visits!

Just booked a Silver Sea Caribbean cruise for Christmas 2024. 🌴 SilverSeas Silver Moon, about 550pax. Going to precede it by Christmas markets in Europe. ☃️
The Christmas markets are something special - that's pretty much what we did last year (although not by cruise) - a castle, a glühwein and bratwurst and a Christmas market in every town we visited in Europe. My idea of a good time!

We have not been to the Caribbean and a cruise seems to be a very useful way of sampling a lot of different "textures" ... while sleeping in the same bed.
The S.dawn is in the Carib and then crossing to Portugal in march, a fertile cruise imo , albeit with a lot of sea days.
I don't think residential logistics will permit and the cheapest suites are already waitlisted so no cigar I guess.

Well, I'll be doing a Rhine Christmas Market cruise trip report that starts in - 25 days and 24 hours.
Our paths may cross. We fly out for our German Christmas Markets land based tour in 5 days, The only bit of water transport we will probably use is to cross over from Prien Am Chiemsee on Lake Chiemsee to Frauenchiemsee to visit the Advent Christmas Market on that island.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I’m booking those two on S/S for March 2026. This far in advance, the prices are very good, particularly when booking onboard with an extra discount. Plus double upgrade current promotion. Plus I like sea days.

What's the catch re "upgrade" promotions. Cynical me senses a trap with these...
No catch with Silversea. I’m onboard at the moment. Pay for a vista suite (window) and get a deluxe verandah suite. Pay for a deluxe, receive a premium suite. Promotions are of short duration and the ship can sell the lower priced cabins more easily later on.

I'm doing a Caribbean 8-nighter on Silver Moon over Christmas 24/25! Bridgetown to Cartagena. Decided to book now, rather than wait till on board as Travel Agent said rooms in my cabin choice were limited. Yes "she would say that, wouldn't she?" - but she brought it up and I hadn't even thought about book on board and I've used this TA for about 13 years and trust her pretty well. Interesting, on the SS web site, I couldn't see any single supplement deals for the region/time I was looking at, but TA got a 50% one. Still ouch! but its not a very expensive cruise.

The above cruise comes with a single cabin upgrade. I queried TA about this sort of promo - no caches according to her. And the 'Classic Veranda suite' I'm booking is pretty ordinary location-wise on the vessel, so the upgrade will be welcome. Identical in lay-out, just better positioned.

Far out, I can’t even commit to green bananas

Again, policies vary between cruise lines, but this is the cancellation schedule for my Caribbean cruise late 2024, which I've just booked (deposit of 15% paid).

So in effect, in my case, 8 months to change mind for minimum penalty. So @Quickstatus , you put your foot on the cheapest fare very early with minimal risk.

Yes, its a thing; and I see you can overnight - open minds can learn new things :) . This is the same mob that is flying us down to Cape Horn from Santiago. There are also cruises where you fly down and join the cruise there, avoiding the sometimes rough Drake passage.

At A$10K for one day there and back, you can judge whether that's good value compared to the c $23K for my 19 day cruise, including flights down from Santiago and back.

A$12K to stay overnight in a tent. I'd rather stay several nights down there in my suite, with lovely food and wines.
Thanks for this information.
