Any Y+ from Oz?

I have a couple of questions.. any suggestions appreciated

1. I want to take a tour of a few O/S cities. At what point does a RTW fare become a better deal than normal fares? I am looking at Per-Syd-Lax-Las-Yvr and maybe nyc

2. Are there any Y+ seats available from Oz? Or do I need to go to Singapore?

1) A rtw fare would incorporate all those cities into the fare, subject to routing and/or mileage restrictions. It is often not that much more expensive than a regular economy return fare. You could throw in another continent or 2 and see a bit of Europe or Asia before you get home, or go on a mileage run with what's left of your ticket.

2) There is NZ's Premium Economy product on the transpacific leg, however you'd have to do PER-AKL, which as I understand is a fairly long flight and without Y+. It is still a shorter journey than going via SIN. NZ PE is far better than SQ Executive Economy imo, as you do get premium wines and snacks, an amenity kit etc on the former whereas you only get a bigger seat on the latter. You can't include SQ's A345 flights into the RWSTAR so that rules out going on SQ Y+ if you're thinking of the rtw. I'm not certain if you can upgrade to the PE cabin on the RWSTAR though, as I don't have the rules handy atm. Maybe someone else can advice.

Can't answer the rtw bit but BA do have WT+ which is a Y+ product from Sydney some days per week.
So even if you do a LONE4 you can pay extra to upgrade some flights to Y+

BA operate 2 flights daily from Sydney, but if you're going to use them, definately use the via BKK option.

I haven't seen any benefit of the 747to BKK over the 777 to SIN , same seats, same basic layout.

From my experience, the 777 SIN service is alot more tired than the 747 BKK service, last time I flew them (and the last time I ever will) was in July.

If flying WTP it's all much of a muchness no matter which aircraft you choose. But all that is moot when the via BKK option is morphing into the 777 soon (I can't remember when - probably later this year or early next year). I'd go via SIN for the significantly more pleasant transit experience.
