I'm flying Perth to Capetown on QF. The JNB-CPT leg is on SAA, and does not have a QF flight number even though it is part of the one Qantas booking. As far as I can tell, I cannot earn any Qantas points or SCs for this flight. If that is correct, then does anyone know if there is a way I could earn Krisflyer points and then transfer them to Velocity so I get at least something from the flight?

Is there a better thing to do? Even if Virgin finalise their partnership with South African, do you think I'd have any chance of claiming the points given that my booking is on Qantas?

I am VA platinum and will be within 40 points of Gold on QF after this trip. I want to direct anything I can into VA or QF.

Would be really grateful for any advice, thanks!
