Update on VA Lounges? [BNE/SYD/MEL/PER/OOL/ADL/CBR now open]

With the QLD border opening up to NSW, I've been chomping at the bit to get back up there where I have many friends and family. However, my bookings have all gone to QF/JQ because VA still have no lounges open and their schedule is significantly limited compared to what QF/JQ are offering. Not only that, their fares are currently closer to QF than JQ so I don't really see what the point of booking with them is, especially when my WP status offers little value at this point in time.

I wonder if partner airlines status holders will be able to access VA lounges. (DL, EY, SQ, AZ...) !

What’s a partner? I guess at the moment until advised otherwise the partners back in Feb are the current partners?

I contacted Virgin about this yesterday and just received a response!-that was quick.

My platinum (I presume everyone else's too) is going to be extended for a year from June 2021 to June 2022! Whow! Also economy X is still going to exist as is the 4 platinum complementary upgrades and current international partner alliances. Good call Virgin. May not need to rush to Q.
Yes I also got that info on the phone a while ago. My date is 27 June 2021, now 2022.

Got a new Plat card in mail today good to only Oct 2021.

Had flight to ADL booked for next week --- pain in the neck with that new COVID outbreak there and all borders locking fassssssssssssssst.

IF lounges were due to open soon there, they will can that idea I am sure. :(

Great to see the lounges open back up! Certainly more core business locations & cutting back on the somewhat more leisure routes.

But Wow to see Cairns & Darwin join the unfortunate list. The cairns lounge was great with that view.

At this stage, we’ve lost 6 lounges with Canberra under review. As it’s unlikely frequency is going to be the case to CBR due to only the 737, it would be probably be split opening times.

I know people have been calling for it for ages but some kind of popup lounge similar to Air NZ Christchurch's Koru express would be great.

I've been in the Cairns lounge on the weekends and despite having 180 seats there are generally 10-15 people in there before a flight.

I fly Darwin -Perth mostly. Currently flights are out of T2. Perth. Was T1.No lounge in T2.No lounge in Darwin. It was a big one. Boxed Meal in Biz. What are the international partnerships now? Virgin not looking good. When international opens again thinking of doing a Qantas Perth -London biz. Should be enough to make Q gold in one hit.
