Hi all

Hoping someone with inside knowledge may be able to help me here.... am planning a short break in PER with some mates for late October (outside of the school holidays). Did some research on flights over the weekend and my preferred flights are all >$300 each way on the QF website.

Does anyone know if there is likely to be another QF domestic seat sale which covers this period in the coming weeks? I know a sale ended last week, so I am kicking myself that we missed the opportunity.

Cheers

The sale last week was not that great and seemed to be more of a support act for the JQ sale, often a better deal comes along just after the short two day one so you might be in luck!

Keep in mind that if the fares on your preferred flights are currently >$300, this means that the 'O' class fares are not available. In any upcoming sale, there may not be that many sale seats made available on those flights.

QF are enjoying very strong loads on all Syd-Per-Syd flights and I would be suprised to see any further "sale" seats announced for travel between now and Christmas.

Thanks Cosi - will have to try and convince the other travellers to fly QF. Otherwise it will be 4.5 hours of pain on DJ - I just don't really want to do the flight on a narrow-bodied plane!

A lot of the QF flights use the A330 and have AVOD (QF has 1 domestic A330 that does NOT have the AVOD), so you have a very good chance of getting a A330 with your own PTV.

Because the plane takes longer to fly to Perth, you could convince your mates to fly QF to Perth and DJ back to Sydney.

Nothing wrong with DJ's offering to Perth compared to Qantas's.

You have hit the nail on the preverbial head straitman... for a long flight I prefer the wide bodied birds, just for the perceived feeling of space if nothing else. Plus I believe that QF's food, IFE etc is international standard so makes for a better experience IMHO.

On the A330 services yes the IFE is AVOD and excellent. Make sure you book the A330 for the best QF experience :)

Yes that is the intention, to fly on the A330. Just hope QF don't do a last minute aircraft change on us....

I believe the 'rogue' A330 will be exiting the fleet in November when it will be replaced by another new generation A330 with the new domestic seats (including AVOD) - IIRC.....

Not a bad idea if the budget doesn't work out! But if looking at enduring DJ might as well look at JQ (do they fly Perth/Sydney?) and paying a bit extra to get extra leg room seats, PTV, food etc. JQ PTV is better than DJ's pay to watch tv ads in my opinion!

I was thinking the extra leg room seats on the flights if I go with DJ. Have to get everyone agreed on dates and then get annual leave approved anyway... hopefully this will all happen before QF have another sale (if they do).
JQ - the flight times SYD-PER and vv aren't that good - and they aren't that much cheaper than QF at this stage. Time will tell though. If they end up haveing a $99 each way sale then I think I will go with them, and do as you suggest with the extra leg room seats and the PTV.
