Any time frame on when WiFi will appear on Qantas 787s long haul?

That might be right! But other than the QF1/2, do any other QF flights overfly India? I guess BLR and DEL… but you’d only be missing out for the last hour of the flight there.

QR certainly has coverage turned off over India, at least but it too has open wifi with Starlink. Can't remember how it is with their other wifi service.

According to the article below, wifi is allowed to be used over India above 3,000 metres on domestic flights. However there are apparently still restrictions on International flights. SQ's page says -
  • "Due to regulatory restrictions, there is no Wi-Fi when the aircraft is flying over India, Iran and Turkey airspace on the A380 and A350-900 Medium Haul aircraft as well as selected B777-300ER aircraft.".
Looking around it appears that India was prohibiting the use of Starlink based systems. However it has now decided to drop the restrictions and changes are underway to allow its use.

I don’t like cheap and cheerful. I’d rather have fast and free wifi, which is what qantas is going to deliver. And no fiddling around having to enter a FF number just to access it.

Sure, plenty airlines have wifi, but up to AUD100 for the flight on some airlines? Not for me.

And even with SQ there’s no wifi on most of their aircraft over India, Iran and Turkey. A significant part of the flight to Europe.

No idea what you are talking about.

SQ has had fast and free and efficient free Wi-Fi for many years. It is not 'cheap and cheerful' - it is fine, and it works NOW, fleetwide.

Type in your seat number, and all connected. Fast and free. Have no idea what my SQ FF number is, as never need to use it for anything.

I flew to and from India earlier this year on SQ, and Wifi worked perfectly on entire flight - no idea where your 'no Wifi over INDIA' comment comes from, but it is not factual, in my personal experience.

When I log into my Krisflyer account or are in business, its faster than a non Krisflyer member or down the back But its still (relatively) slow. If that floats your boat, then you are fine.

And no, there is no wifi over India. Its banned by the authorities - see above.
