Rang platinum help and they could not help transfer either one to the same flight. Their advice - cancel ASA and pay full J fare!!
Not very helpful of them! Sounds like what you have booked is the best of a bad bunch.

I have found the same problem when trying to book a JASA for 2 people. Have not booked yet but I found that if I logged into Qantas via 2 different browsers and selected 1 seat in each browser I could get to the Review Your Flight screens on both browsers. From here I am assuming that I will be able book 2 JASA and then contact Qantas and get them linked.

I've tried doing this in the past and it doesn't work. When you get to the payment page one of the bookings will spit the dummy, words to the effect of "this fare is no longer available." And when you go to re-book it will only show availability for about a gazillion points.
