Hey all, wanted to ask if anyone has actually has experience in benefiting from linking two seperate people's PNR on the same flight?

Me and my partner booked the same flight on two different PNRs as I booked later. I was able to get Qantas link them together, but does it actually do anything?

I'm hoping it means she can be on the same boarding group.
