I was wondering if there are others out there who chase down every possible points opportunity?
Seems I just cannot help myself and I have decided it must be one of the best games we can play.
Status runs ....even Mrscove loves status....

Do you even need to ask?

Could it possibly be OCD behaviour? I am hoping it isn't but it sure is addictive.
I seem to have corrupted a few over in Perth and at least one in Salt Lake City.
The one in Salt Lake is moving up to 8 at a time on points!

Hehehe - Yes, I very much recognise it as OCD behaviour.

My kids call me Rain Man....
"must get home and check my points"
They're not so smart-cough when they're sitting up the pointy end, enjoying the fruits of my obsession !!!

Duffa that is a real term of endearment.....Rainman and Dustin Hoffman....great movie.
Just did Russia for one and US for the other. To my youngest son's credit he is booking it himself and just asking sensible questions before going click and click for his partner and himself.

Personally I love it when I infect someone else with it. After our EY F trip to Dubai at Easter, a friend who constantly travels asked why we get all these bonuses and he doesn't. Fast forward 6 months and I asked where they were off too. He had listened and earned enough points for a 10 nights in Hawaii (5th night free on awards stays).

Have also 'infected' a few friends who often said 'how do you do that ?'

My last points venture of first F experience had most friends just shaking their heads, they all fly Y and just could not comprehend how I could do it.

Partner has about as much interest in it as I have in his fishing. I have a friend that collects them the hard way. Just focused on work. Another lot too busy with young family. I need new friends!!:p

Im not going to go too far out of my way to earn but if I'm going to do something that earns points then I'll do it. Does my head in a bit if they don't post. Have a couple small earns I let go as too painful for follow up eg Avis to qantas despite a call and details so I have a limit. Funnily enough I will go a bit further out of my way to redeem (say hotel nights) than earning.

Fortunately most of my friends immediately suspect something fishy and change the subject. Obviously haven't cottoned on to the fact that you can have something for nothing....

Always looking for ways to earn more points. Not always efficient.

Definitely OCD.

Isn't that why we are all here?

Certainly not me! :)

I don't care too much about the points. Sure they are useful from time to time. Benefits, from which you need status, are another matter.

AFF doesn't add too much value to me anymore, I must admit. But I still like to browse.

Fare alerts can be good!

And sometimes interesting trip reports. Although I've read most trip reports x 10 and it's one reason why I've stopped doing them myself.

Mrscove is not into this AFF points collecting as me. She often pays the butcher and grocer with real money instead of plastic. (Me on the other hand) I try to run up everything on CCs no matter whether it is ATO or the grocer. I am not complaining but it is just behaviour that is quite different. It started for me around 1990 I think and many of my credit cards tell me how many points I have earned since starting with them.
If we are mostly OCD in AFF land it is a pretty common issue.
I feel I am being strong when I avoid taking up one or two of the dozen sign up opportunities.

I rarely go on status runs but do enjoy chasing points.
Can't remember the last time bought J or F tickets and every time a friend asks how it's possible I try to explain about buying points and hoarding credit card bonus points, things I've learned on FT/AFF and other forums but most can't be bothered joining the "chase" instead rather fly Y and keep whinging about it.

I must admit I don't go out of my way to chase points. I pay many bills by bank transfer rather than credit card. Dunno why - its just a long standing habit. Must do something about that. Sometimes I don't even pay my tax on a cc   (I hope I don't get expelled fro AFF for that confession.) Definitely have to lift my game there.

Never done a status run, but am lucky enough to fly enough for work.

At our work we split up the ATO as my partners are right into Kris Flyer redemption flights. I hope I haven't warped their minds.
