Hi all,

Long time reader, first time writer...

I'm looking to book PER to SLC (via SYD and LAX) through our companies corporate travel agent Egencia and it appears although I'll be flying Qantas I'll be ticketed as an AA customer with AA flight numbers.

My questions are:
Are there any issues with this? Anything I'll miss out on?
I'm a Silver QP member, will I still have access to the LAX AA lounge through my QP membership?

I ask because I remember a recent heated discussion between members in regards to lounge access at Heathrow due to the way a QP member was ticketed (e.g. a BA ticket would not allow a QP member access).

Any help appreciated.

It depends on what fare booking class is used. Some AA booking types do not earn any QFF points of Status Credits (such as bookings in fare classes N, O, Q, E). So if booked in one of those fare buckets, you earn nothing in QFF, but could join AAdvantage and earn miles in that program.

Also note that some of the more discounted AA fares that do earn QFF points may earn at a reduced rate, while if booked using the QF flight numbers you will earn a minimum rate of 1 QFF point per mile. Check the published Qantas FF earning rates for AA flight booking classes on the QFF web site to understand what you will be earning.

You can use your Qantas Club membership to access lounges in Australia and USA prior to all AA or QF flights (Qantas Club and AAdmirals Club lounges).

Also depending on the booking classes, you may be able to fulfil an AA Gold or Platinum challenge...
