Any ideas if an offer (points/status) will come from VA anytime soon?

I know no one knows this before it happens but I have to decide soon if I want to pay for tickets or use points on two tickets (economy) to LA from Canberra.
If I pay cash I would want it to be because I got some sort of double points or status offer, otherwise I'll just use my points that I have and use the cash saving on nicer accommodations once I'm there.

Should note that I'm not flying until November. Cash price right now isn't too bad, $1900 for 1 Adult and 1 Child return CAN - LAX or I can use 179,200 points (+ $622 cash)

I'd say it's very likely, given the current climate. But they tend not to run offers simultaneously as they could then be stacked.

There have been several 2x and 3x points offers recently, as well as bonus points for USA and Japan. If I had to bet, I'd bet on a double SC offer being next. But at the end of the day your guess is as good as mine.

I'm wondering if they might get a bit more creative with their offerings or go back to some older ideas.
Remember ages ago there was a promo where you got status credits for reward bookings? That would be something a bit different.

That was a cool promo. But I think it's more likely we see a plain old DSC promo, as they will want cash coming in.

I have some upcoming VA reward bookings. If they offered that, I would cancel and rebook.:p😆

Email from QF this morn offering 25% bonus if transfer from CC - VA have / might have any promo now / soon?

1,000 – 10,000 Points = 10% discount
11,000 – 49,000 Points = 15% discount
50,000 – 250,000 Points = 20% discount
So, $4680 for 250000 Velocity or 161300 Krisflyer. (1.9¢ per velocity or 2.9¢ per Krisflyer)

I wouldn't be surprised if a planned DSC promotion may have been axed.
With today's sales, I think the plan is cheap flights which will bring in cash and also if people fly more they will earn extra DSC's and flight sectors too.

My 2 cents:

Offers such as DSC are very unlikely in the current climate. VA and other airlines are cancelling services and future schedules can not be relied upon (to say nothing of individuals cancelling plans). The last thing an airline needs is *more* bookings now only to have them cancelled later and issue refunds, clog customer service lines, or have people whine about cancellation fees.

As things settle and people start to travel more freely, this is when a DSC promo could help accelerate bookings and steer the ship.

What I would like to see is VA do right now extend the review dates for status. This will appease loyal customers and those chasing status.

Edit: well it turns out this status extension idea is in the works: Qantas, Virgin Australia plan coronavirus status extensions

Offer in My Velocity today 35% off, and win a share of 10 million points for bookings made 16 to 23 March.

So my company has now cancelled all overseas work trips for at least the next few months. I’m now unlikely to be able to maintain gold as a result before my review date. Surely virgin has to offer some kind of status pause?

I am about to qualify for Gold with a trip to QLD in May with my family.
Not sure if we can even go right now or not. Would be great for a pause but I'd also need my SC to not expire also.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Received a DSC offer via email last night. Have until 30th of March to book for travel until 14 Jun 2020.

Just some caveats, Platinum member and have not travelled since reaching status in January.

Assuming it is not targeted , can you share the open link after you click from your email.

I have some trips lined and it will be good to use the DSC to maintain the status in the current situation.

I haven't got anything in 'My Offers' in Velocity so I think it is targeted.

Clicking the link automatically redirects me to the velocity website saying I have activated the offer. More than likely I believe this offer is targeted.
